Field Services Engineer – Indra Group USA
We are currently in the Overland Park, KS area, but are moving to Olathe, KS into a new facility in 3–6 months. US Citizenship Required for this Position.
The Field & In‑Service Monitoring Engineer is responsible for the deployment, support, and lifecycle monitoring of IAT’s Surface Awareness Initiative (SAI) systems across all current and future sites. This role encompasses field installation, technical oversight, preventative maintenance coordination, ticket and performance monitoring, and contractor supervision and training. The engineer plays a key role in ensuring consistent system performance and high customer satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities Field Engineering & Installation
Conduct RF analysis to determine optimal placement of Ground‑Based ADS‑B receivers, followed by on‑site surveys to validate feasibility and assess civil works requirements. Support the Marketing Department in preparing accurate bids and cost estimates based on these findings.
Purchase required installation materials, which may involve direct contact with vendors and familiarity with purchasing procedures.
Supervise the installation of ADS‑B or communication antennas, telecommunications infrastructure, IT and networking equipment, and associated systems in accordance with contract specifications and industry and company quality standards.
Generate and maintain accurate technical documentation including trip reports, drawings, and installation procedures.
Support Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) activities, including on‑site participation, coordination with stakeholders, and preparation of required documentation such as test procedures, logs, checklists, and final acceptance reports.
Maintain effective and professional communication with customers and Program Manager throughout the project lifecycle. Resolve potential problem areas by determining, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
When not deployed, work in In‑Service & Operational Support.
In‑Service Monitoring & Operational Support
Monitor support tickets daily, including reviewing issues, identifying recurring patterns, supporting root cause and troubleshooting efforts, and escalating unresolved problems as appropriate.
Produce TPMR (Technical Performance Monitoring Reports) for each site.
Schedule and coordinate preventative system outages in coordination with stakeholders.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including maintaining up‑to‑date departmental manuals and technical information to ensure consistent operations.
Safety Standards to be Followed, Where Applicable
Adhere to all local, site‑specific, and company safety protocols.
Wear required PPE, including hearing protection (high‑noise areas), safety glasses and gloves, reflective vest (if required by site), and maintain a stocked personal first aid kit.
Education / Experience
Associate’s degree or higher in Electronics Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of technical training and hands‑on experience in electronics, communications, or related fields.
Hands‑on field experience supervising installations involving communications systems, electrical infrastructure, and/or ADS‑B equipment. Should have a working knowledge of basic electronics and RF concepts (e.g., signal propagation, interference), along with a willingness to learn and apply tools for RF analysis with support and training provided.
Prior exposure to airports, airfields, or other restricted‑access sites is desirable.
Proven ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and apply initiative to meet operational deadlines without direct supervision.
Strong problem‑solving skills and practical decision‑making, grounded in field experience.
Effective communication skills, especially in multicultural environments, with demonstrated ability to maintain professional relationships and navigate culturally diverse settings.
Experience in customer relations, contract compliance, and negotiation is desirable.
Experience in project cost estimation for labor, materials, and civil works is desirable.

Willingness and ability to travel extensively domestically, occasionally on short notice.
Demonstrates a positive attitude, adaptability, and a proactive mindset when working independently or in teams, even under challenging conditions.
