Geotechnical Engineer (Nashville) Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc.

Nashville, TN

Pay Range Base pay: $75,000 – $95,000 per year.

Salary will be discussed with the manager during the interview.

Responsibilities

Provide geotechnical engineering guidance for due diligence, investigation, impact assessment, improvement, and construction of infrastructure projects in the public and private sector. Tasks may include research, design, analysis, concept development, planning, and construction of roads, buildings, tunnels, dams, canals, levees, bridges, airports, water supply systems, underground storage, and sewage treatment.

Conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, including subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, soil erosion, lateral earth pressures, geological hazards, underground water, and slope stability for commercial, industrial, building, infrastructure, and transportation projects.

Lead field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, and recommendations; develop plans and specifications; observe and inspect; and write, prepare, and review related reports.

Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on design and construction issues involving rock and soil mechanics, investigating subsurface and geological conditions to design foundations, earth structures, and pavement sub‑grades.

Write technical reports summarizing research findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, and software.

Develop work plans and coordinate field/site work and laboratory testing.

Support construction activities, including submittal reviews, requests for information, and contract document clarifications.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering.

Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.

Minimum 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience.

Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering calculations and reports.

Proficiency in Geotechnical software such as gINT, Slope/W, Seep/W, APILE, LPILE, GRLWeap, Settle3D (or equivalent). \ Ability to travel to project sites and physically access all points of a construction site in varied climates and environmental conditions.

Valid driver’s license and insurable.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments.

Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Safe and successful performance of essential job functions under ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting productivity standards.

Exposure to variable climate and environmental conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
