Controls Engineer Job Description

As a Controls Engineer, you will review customer machinery orders and specifications, design controls, program, and provide support through prototyping and build phases. You may also provide field support as needed.

Responsibilities

Apply electrical knowledge to develop schematic and panel drawings, BOMs, and machine logic.

Implement product changes and enhancements for in‑house equipment design and development.

Resolve electrical problems from component through system level.

Provide design and technical support for sales, procurement, manufacturing, and aftermarket service teams.

Occasionally travel to customer sites to conduct problem solving for technical equipment and system integration issues (less than 10%).

Essential Skills

PLC Programming with expertise in ladder logic (the person or Siemens).

3‑5 years of experience in designing and/or troubleshooting electrical controls for industrial equipment.

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET‑accredited university.

Strong hands‑on skills with machinery for troubleshooting and debugging.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with AutoCAD.

Controls engineering and electrical engineering experience.

Work Environment The work environment is primarily office‑based, with occasional visits to customer sites. This company builds machinery for various industries, focusing on packaging machinery, and holds over 50% market share in this space.

Job Type & Location Permanent position based out of Louisville, KY. Fully onsite.

Pay and Benefits Pay range: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year.

Company profit bonus program (up to 8% annually), 401(k) match after 12 months (4.5% on 6% contribution), and abundant growth opportunities.
