Microsoft 365 Teams Specialist The Microsoft 365 Teams Specialist is responsible for the implementation, administration, and optimization of Microsoft Teams and related Microsoft 365 collaboration tools. This role ensures that Teams supports seamless communication, collaboration, and productivity across the organization while maintaining security, compliance, and user adoption standards.
Key Responsibilities
Deployment & Configuration
Plan, design, and deploy Microsoft Teams environments, including voice, video, chat, meetings, and integration with Microsoft 365 services.
Configure Teams policies, permissions, channels, and governance models.
Manage Teams integration with SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online, Power Platform, and third-party applications.
Administration & Support
Administer and maintain Teams within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.
Troubleshoot Teams-related issues involving connectivity, user access, devices, and integrations.
Manage Teams Phone System, Direct Routing, and Calling Plans (if applicable).
Security & Compliance
Implement Teams governance, data retention, and compliance policies.
Ensure Teams aligns with organizational security frameworks and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
Monitor and manage Teams activity reports and auditing logs.
User Adoption & Training
Develop and deliver user training, best practices, and onboarding materials.
Promote adoption of Teams collaboration features to improve productivity.
Serve as a subject matter expert for collaboration and communication tools.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work with IT, HR, and business departments to enhance collaboration processes.
Stay up to date with Microsoft 365 updates, Teams roadmap, and new features.
Participate in projects to integrate Teams with other enterprise systems.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience managing Microsoft 365 environments, including Teams administration.
Strong knowledge of:
Microsoft Teams architecture and governance.
Microsoft 365 Admin Center, PowerShell, and Azure Active Directory.
Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive integration.
Experience with Teams Phone System, voice routing, and meeting room devices is a plus.
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Certifications
Microsoft Certified: Teams Administrator Associate (MS-700)
Microsoft Certified: Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900)
