Job Description
As a Fiber Network Planner, you will play a key role in the end-to-end development of fiber optic network infrastructure, including the design, costing, and planning of builds in expansion markets as well as network expansions within existing markets. You will be responsible for identifying efficient and cost‑effective routes, prioritizing areas for build, and maintaining compliance with engineering best practices and regulatory requirements. This position requires a strong background in spatial analysis and reporting, along with the ability to collaborate with both internal teams and external partners. The analyst will work closely with OSP Engineering and Construction. Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed fiber optic network designs, including route planning, duct, and pole usage. Prioritize areas for build based on estimated cost to build and other key company KPIs. Utilize GIS/mapping software and tools to prepare fiber layout plans and documentation. Collaborate with construction teams, permitting teams, and engineering departments. Analyze network capacity and provide upgrade plans for scalability and performance. Maintain up-to-date records of fiber paths and cabinets utilization. Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and local authorities. Support project management with timelines, budgets, and technical inputs. Required Qualifications and Experience
Proven experience as a Fiber Planner, Designer, or similar role in telecommunications. Strong understanding of fiber optics infrastructure (FTTx, XGS-PON, backbone, etc.). Knowledge of construction processes, permitting, and engineering basics. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to read and interpret engineering and schematic drawings. Degree or diploma in Telecommunications, Civil Engineering, or related field. Qualifications
Experience with permitting and regulatory compliance processes. Familiarity with aerial and underground network deployment. Experience in urban and rural network planning environments.
