Quality Engineer 3 (Module Breakpoint Coordinator) Duration:

11 to 12 months position (may go longer) Location:

Lansing, Michigan Daily Schedule/Shift:

Monday – Thursday, 4 days and 10 hours daily. 1st shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Meetings after shift may be required and will be compensated. Training: Roughly 4 to 6 weeks learning client systems. The expectation is to be proficient after training (not an expert). Overview:

The main function of a quality engineer is to research and test the design, functionality and maintenance of products, equipment, systems and processes and develop quality standards. A typical quality engineer has the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and evaluate product integrity and standards. Responsibilities

Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data. Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities. May write training material and conduct training sessions on quality control activities. May specialize in areas of quality control engineering, such as design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, product reliability, inventory control, metrology, automated testing, software, research and development, and administrative application. Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability. Skills

Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability. Team player and detail oriented. Basic leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports. Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD). Key responsibilities: Address module issues end of line; handle supplier quality issues; issue SPPS; issue PRTS; maintain module supplier quality sheet; work with DVT coordinator on software issues; address all end of line module and software failures; enter defect losses into GSIP. How do you define success for a Quality Engineer in this position? Someone that works with minimal direction, independent, and can solve issues but is not afraid to ask questions when help is needed. Culture: high performing technical team, collaborative knowledge sharing, and ownership of issues. Team size and growth: 5 total now; potential to add 5–8 more in the next year as programs expand. Knowledge sharing and professional development: training books, training room, and growth opportunities depending on interests. Qualifications

High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is a plus. 3–5 years of experience required; automotive experience or supplier experience preferred. Electrical background: reading schematics and understanding how software relates to schematics. Computer skills: proficient with Excel and formulas, ability to look up specs and math data. Vehicle software knowledge; VSPY experience is a bonus (Vehicle Spy-like tool to pull part numbers and logs). Questionnaire / Candidate Confirmation

Confirm understanding of: Monday to Thursday schedule, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, potential after-hours meetings with compensation; 4-day work week with 10-hour shifts; zero-tolerance policy for no-call/no-show incidents. Questions to assess candidate: 1) At least 3 years automotive experience and roles/responsibilities; 2) Experience with electrical schematics and interaction with software; 3) Knowledge of vehicle software and its function; 4) Familiarity with VSPY is a bonus.
