Overview – Role Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced
Quality Engineer
to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director of Quality, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of a quality and reliability testing system for the plant\'s products and development process. As an integral contributor to the site quality vision, this role will contribute to the definition, execution, and deployment of the strategic quality plan in conjunction with the plant leadership team. The Quality Engineer will execute and administer plant-wide quality management systems assurance, quality control, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Provide quality support to design and manufacturing, ensuring compliance with all quality requirements
Manage MRB Dispositions to reduce overhead to the company
Develop and analyze data to determine whether current processes and procedures meet the finished product\'s proposed quality and reliability expectancy
Utilize structured problem-solving tools to ensure timely identification of root cause(s), permanent corrective actions, and timely responses communicated per customer requirements
Maintain status log with ongoing follow-up on required actions and provide summary reports
Develop and maintain effective proactive and preventative quality processes utilizing APQP core elements (PFMEA, process flow and control plans, etc.) and CAPA and RCCA to drive product and process defect reductions
Perform contract review on incoming customer orders and documentation and test data reviews for component, module, and vehicle assemblies
Support team members engaged in production, inspection, and testing activities to ensure the consistent and repeatable delivery of conforming finished goods per customers’ requirements
Manage the planning, promoting, and organizing of training activities across departments as required related to craft, product quality, and reliability
Evaluate returned defective products, then implement appropriate corrective actions with the aid of other departments (manufacturing, engineering, design, purchasing, etc.)
Participate in the day-to-day quality department reviews, ensuring the quality system is performing to the requirements, both externally and internally
Collaborate with associates and engineers from other departments researching new processes and improving existing processes, tooling, and equipment
Ensure safe and proper operation of every quality fixture. Verify that calibration is performed to quality standards and requirements
Aid in the development of standardized work instruction for consistent manufacturing methods
Consistently adhere to, and support, policies, and procedures, including ISO, and safety regulations; assist in investigating and documenting potential infractions
Coordinate and perform quality audits to evaluate the implementation of the management system and identify areas of improvement
Monitors and audits process, material, and product testing against established standards
Update monthly metrics and report status and initiatives to senior management
Prepare statistical analysis and performance improvements on audit findings and corrective actions
Provide mentoring and training to increase awareness of quality requirements
Collect and evaluate feedback from the management team, project managers, and supervisors to identify and recommend opportunities to improve the quality systems
Identify and drive quality management best practices within AS9100 to continuously improve current processes, systems, and tools
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in quality engineering, Quality Management, or a related engineering technology
4+ years of related experience in the manufacturing industry
3+ years of experience in performing audits related to quality controls
Training and experience in ISO9001 and AS9100 required
Aerospace industry experience is required
Demonstrated experience working in multi-organization teams in a quality assurance role
Team player with the ability to work closely with peers and within division project teams
Experience with audit and inspection in accordance with quality management systems
Must have a continuous improvement mindset
Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
Must have excellent visual acuity to perform detailed inspections and quality control tasks
Ability to accurately distinguish a wide range of colors, which is essential for success in this role
Must be a US citizen with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
Salary and Benefits Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
