Base pay range $110,000.00/yr - $178,000.00/yr
Job Title: Fire Protection Design Engineer Akkodis is recruiting for an Aerospace Fire Protection Design Engineer for a manufacturer in the Monrovia, CA area. This is a direct hire position with a pay range of $110K annually to $178K annually depending on education, experience and location. This key position works closely with AHJ’S and clients to ensure projects are compliant and being completed as assigned. The Fire Protection Design Engineer is fully responsible and accountable for the final design content and document generation to support the Fire Protection system.
Responsibilities
Plan, manage, and oversee fire protection engineering efforts across multiple sites—domestic and international
Design and analyze fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, gas-based extinguishing systems, and fire water distribution networks
Maintain awareness of changes in NFPA, OSHA, NASA‑specific standards, NEC, and other applicable codes and ensure project alignment
Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
Fire Protection Engineering License by examination issued by any state in the United States
Experience with Fire Protection detailed design
Experience in interpreting client request and applying design standards to work product
Experienced in Plan Reviews
Experience in using AutoCAD and a fire sprinkler program to design fire alarm, fire suppression, and life safety systems in AutoCAD
Working knowledge of Fire, Life Safety, Building Codes, and NFPA Standards
Possess certifications, training, and working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards including NFPA13, 2001, 70, and 72
Ability to travel to multiple DSN locations including international sites as needed
