Department:

Job Description and Duties The Integrated Resource Planning Team is seeking a Junior Energy Planning Data Analyst to provide program oversight and policy/technical analysis to support the state’s resource and infrastructure planning efforts, including providing a team lead role in the Integrated Resource Planning process.
Conduct research and technical analyses on complex energy policy and energy market issues with moderate direction.
Develop creative solutions to complex analytical problems while taking into consideration the market and policy implications.
Work to develop and refine parts of a complex regulatory proceeding in a team environment.
Represent the Energy Division and/or the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) in various high‑profile settings. Collaborate with other state agencies and stakeholders to help achieve statewide clean energy goals.
Organize and facilitate workshops and/or stakeholder meetings. Prepare workshop reports, as needed.
Assist Commissioners, their advisors, management and other decision-makers regarding issues in the assigned areas.
Review and prepare comments on pending legislation and respond to inquiries from the public and legislative staff.
Special Requirements
Describe your experience gathering data and synthesizing information; and conducting analyses. Please highlight any electricity resource planning and modeling experience you may have.
Describe your written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting and writing white papers, reports, and memos.
Describe your understanding of economic theory and the functioning of markets.
Who May Apply
Individuals who are currently in the classification, eligible for lateral transfer, eligible for reinstatement, have list or LEAP eligibility, are in the process of obtaining list eligibility, or have SROA and/or Surplus eligibility.
