Position Overview Leads and manages the actuarial function for pricing, value‑added services, marketing and product development for RGA U.S. Group Reinsurance’s Group Life and Accident and Special Risk business unit. Works closely with the business development and marketing underwriters in setting and executing strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Leads pricing and risk analysis to set assumptions for RGA Group Life, Accident, and Special Risk new and continuing transactions.
Works closely with Business Development, Underwriting Teams, and Actuarial Teams to understand the risks and insurance needs.
Writes and virtually presents RGA’s Quarterly Earnings Summary, a value‑added service covering group life and disability insurers’ quarterly financial performance.
Performs thorough risk analysis, including experience analysis.
Manages maintenance of actuarial memo/pricing memo documentation, including assumptions and methods used, experience analysis performed, results analysis, technical review and peer review.
Maintains and monitors deployment of the Rules of Engagement and Concentration Risk Guidelines. Follows RGA pricing standards.
Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development.
Serves as leader and participates in special projects, committees, meetings and client presentations.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field
FSA accreditation
10+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance and/or reinsurance
Highly advanced actuarial technical skills
Intermediate PC skills
Expert knowledge of life insurance products
Advanced ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structures
Advanced ability to challenge and enhance analytical capabilities
Intermediate understanding of GAAP, statutory and tax accounting and reporting
Expert ability in implementing change within an organization, ensuring understanding, participation, and ownership
Highly advanced oral and written communication skills including presentation skills, demonstrating the ability to convey information in a way that is meaningful and well received by stakeholders and team members
Highly advanced ability to adapt new methods; work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
Expert skills in managing multiple projects and or sub‑teams simultaneously
Highly advanced ability to make timely and effective decisions and produce results through strategic planning and the implementation and evaluation of programs and policies
Highly advanced ability to implement organizational, divisional and/or departmental vision and goals that result in achievement and success through exceptional leadership skills, collaboration, creative thinking, maintaining focus, and persistence, even under adversity, while maintaining the confidence of associates and customers

Preferred
Member, American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
5-7+ years of supervisory experience
Advanced knowledge of group life insurance
Familiarity with database applications
Advanced life insurance and/or reinsurance industry and product knowledge.

Compensation Range $161,650.00 - $246,550.00 Annual. Base pay varies depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long‑term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
