Description
As a
Director, Client Development (Walmart/Sam's Club)
for the Headquarters team at Acosta Group, you will play a pivotal role in helping our clients sell their merchandise at Walmart. You will assist the client with their go‑to‑market strategy unique to Walmart, providing leadership, counsel, and insights to help create the story of why the merchandise aligns with Walmart’s strategy.
The Director will work cross‑functionally with Acosta’s business intelligence, e‑commerce, and retail execution teams to bring all Acosta Group assets to bear. You will communicate directly with the principals of the client’s organization as well as Walmart’s buying team to set up meetings and presentations. You will partner with cross‑functional teams that specialize in item set‑up, replenishment, and supply chain.
Ideal candidate will reside in the Bentonville, Rogers, or Fayetteville, AR metro area and be comfortable working a hybrid arrangement.
Responsibilities
Assist in the creation and execution of client strategic plans for success at Walmart, including new item introductions and expansion of existing items.
Manage key client business at Walmart and Sam’s Club.
Organize client/customer meetings to discuss strategies for their brands.
Build compelling sales stories and presentations to support strategies.
Deliver target budget plans and new distribution goals for client and customer.
Identify new opportunities for growth; develop and implement sales plans to achieve them.
Maintain clear understanding of objectives and liaise with leadership to develop operational plans to manage execution and measure results.
Manage cross‑functional communication between analytics and supply chain teams to understand all aspects of client businesses.
Monitor and report on sales performance analytics.
Optimize business performance to achieve company goals (sales, profit, new item listings).
Motivate and lead a multi‑functional team covering all aspects of Walmart’s business (Omni sales, Supply Chain, Replenishment, etc.).
Develop strategic business partnerships across multiple Walmart departments.
Guide others in understanding and acting upon customer, consumer, and industry insights.
Create and deliver creative customer presentations to achieve incremental opportunities.
Seek, create, and develop new business opportunities to build brand consumption.
Develop and execute effective account‑specific marketing programs.
Demonstrate detailed forecasting skills and accuracy.
Qualifications
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Owner/entrepreneurial mindset.
Ability to manage 1‑5 employees.
Appropriate people skills and emotional intelligence.
4‑year college degree or equivalent experience.
10+ years of sales experience (CPG experience a plus).
5+ years making the direct call on Walmart/Sam’s Club.
Travel may be required.
Strong knowledge of sales function processes and cross‑functional exposure to other business operations.
Knowledge of Consumer‑Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
Strong knowledge of syndicated data and customer manager processes, as well as Microsoft Office and Retail Link.
