Engineer – Principal (Turbine)

Job Summary Senior engineer responsible for planning and conducting intermediate to complex engineering activities using creative techniques and depth of engineering knowledge for decision making, leading teams, building relationships with stakeholders and driving process improvement.
Work Arrangement Hybrid – requires in‑person work at a designated location; remote work only from the employee’s primary residence unless otherwise allowed.
Emergency Response Must be available for primary assignment in support of DTE’s emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to customers.
Key Accountabilities
Apply advanced knowledge and background of engineering and scientific principles.
Develop, coordinate, and direct critical projects or field engineering assignments.
Lead or play a key role on process improvement teams.
Initiate or perform engineering studies, proposing solutions or recommending alternatives.
Develop presentations of engineering projects to stakeholders.
Create models and analyze data to support improvement programs.
Conduct studies and analyses to assist in resolving engineering‑related issues and support standards development.
Mentor and provide guidance for less experienced engineers.
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and at least six years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
Other Requirements
Proficiency in relevant computer applications.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Planning and continuous improvement skills.
Time management, prioritization, and organization skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
