Job Summary Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is currently hiring a
Learning Experience Designer I (LXD)
to join our Learning and Performance Solutions (LAPS) team. The LXD is responsible for the design and creation of technology‑enhanced workstreams that maximize the learner experience. The role requires ensuring that learning activities reflect best practices in learning design and the use of educational technologies, including face‑to‑face delivery, virtual instructor‑led training (vILT), action learning, eLearning courses, video, brand design, and animation technologies. Exceptional video creation and editing skills and maintenance of SharePoint sites are also required.
The position reports to the Senior Manager, Learning and Development Solutions and collaborates closely with the Learning and Development Solutions team and various functional leaders across the business.
Duties
Needs Assessment: collaborates with internal stakeholders to identify learning needs and performance gaps, and conducts analysis and observations to gather insights into learner requirements.
Curriculum Design: designs and develops curriculum, course outlines, and instructional plans that link learning objectives with organizational goals, organizing content into logical sequences and selecting appropriate instructional strategies and resources.
Instructional Material Development: creates instructional materials and resources including presentations, guidebooks, job aids, and multimedia content; develops interactive eModules, videos, simulations, or other multimedia assets to boost learner engagement and retention.
Instructional Strategy Selection: applies effective instructional strategies and learning theories to design engaging and impactful learning experiences, considering learner characteristics, learning styles, and intended outcomes.
Technology Integration: integrates technology tools and digital resources into instructional design using the internal learning management system (Learn@Cox via Workday), authoring tools, multimedia software, videography, and educational apps.
Creative Inspiration: creates visual concepts that inspire, inform, and captivate learners, ensuring LAPS brand identity through logos, typography, and color palettes.
Assessment and Evaluation: develops assessment tools and evaluation methods to measure learner progress, designs summative assessments, analyzes assessment data, and uses feedback to refine instructional design.
Professional Development: stays updated on instructional design trends, emerging technologies, and best practices through workshops, conferences, webinars, and online courses; networks with other professionals to share knowledge.
Collaboration and Communication: works with subject matter experts, LAPS team members, and other stakeholders to design and deliver effective learning experiences; communicates timelines, milestones, and updates, actively seeking feedback to ensure alignment with objectives.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum of two years of learning design experience with proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, Microsoft Office Suite, OneDrive, Vyond, Articulate Rise and Storyline, Canva, SharePoint, HTML/CSS, CMS, Power Automate, Power Apps, Smartsheet, and Collosyan.
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (or equivalent experience such as 4 years in a related field).
Evidence of a diverse portfolio of accomplishments using learning technologies across instructor‑led, web‑based, and personal device delivery.
Experience creating and maintaining learning objects in an LMS.
Basic videography skills (camera, lighting, sound).
Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to timelines and quality standards.
Experience owning a full start‑to‑finish training program.
Enjoys working in a high‑energy, fast‑paced group.
Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, initiative, and ability to work independently in a team environment.
Obsessed about the learner experience.
Possesses a Servant Leadership mindset.
Common knowledge of the trucking industry; fleet maintenance or automotive/trucking experience preferred.
Mechanical inclination strongly preferred (professional or enthusiast competency).
