General Description
The Texas Secretary of State is seeking a Drupal Front and Back-End Developer who is proficient with versions 10 and 11. As a Drupal Web Developer, you will be assisting with design, development, testing and deployment of both internal and external applications. You will work with both small and larger team environments. You will collaborate with other developers, consultants, managers, directors and other stakeholders for the objective of producing user centric secure web applications that both meets customer needs and satisfies the agency's objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in Drupal front and backend development, the ability to assist with legacy frameworks, the ability to work well with others and familiarity with developing both secure and accessible content and functionality.
Examples of Work Performed
Develop, customize, and maintain Drupal based websites and applications.
Collaborate with internal management, developers, accessibility and security analysts, and other stakeholders to help develop functional Drupal websites and applications based on universal design.
Collaborate with external vendors and contractors under the direction of SOS management.
Write clean, efficient, accessible and secure code which is authenticated through various testing methodologies.
Implement responsive design and ensure cross-bowser compatibility testing.
Troubleshoot incidents, fulfill requests and help manage changes using documentation tools.
Help revise code and content that has been identified for both accessibility and security remediation.
Proactively perform website updates, maintenance, and support to internal staff, vendors and contractors.
Conduct quality assurance and accessibility testing.
Effectively communicate Identified issues to management and stakeholders for developing and implementing issue resolution.
Stay current with the latest advances in Drupal development.
Perform light server administration tasks.
Identify new features and functionality that can be integrated into our website and various applications.
Assist with regular web edits on legacy and new applications as needed.
Help train staff in developing within the Drupal framework.
Required Skills
A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a similar subject is required
5 years experience as a Developer
Drupal Development Skills:
Expertise in Drupal architecture site building, theming, and module development for both Drupal 10 and 11 frameworks. This includes helping migrate legacy systems to Drupal framework and using new features as they are released. Ability to develop and maintain custom Drupal modules tailored to unique business requirements. Proficiency in developing custom themes or modifying existing themes to align with the Texas Secretary of State's branding and UX/UI requirements. Experience with Drupal's templating.
Strategy Development:
Experience working within each phase of application development lifecycle. This includes assisting with initial scope of project/project estimation, assisting with developing information architecture and wireframing, sprint planning and backlog grooming. In conclusion, the ability to translate client's needs to technical specifications.
Preferred Skills
Core Programming Skills:
PHP skills for backend and custom module development. Strong front-end development skills, including proficiency in HTML5, CSS. CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (e.g., jQuery, React).
Website Management & Maintenance:
Proficient in using Git for managing collaborative codebases and configuration sync processes. Experience with automated deployment tools. In-depth knowledge of Drupal security updates, patching and user role management, ensuring compliance with SOS security standards.
Content Management & Usability:
Understanding of UX design principles and compliance with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards for government websites. Familiarity with content strategy development, including reusable structured content integration across platforms.
DevOps & Hosting Environment Management:
