Description

The Director of Supply Chain is a strategic operations leader responsible for developing and executing integrated strategies that ensure optimal material flow performance across all Spectra facilities. This role provides leadership and direction across inventory control, supply chain operations, vendor management, logistics, and off-site production teams to support profitability, operational excellence, and scalability.

The Director acts as a key liaison between corporate operations, production, sales, and finance to align supply chain decisions with business objectives, improve forecasting accuracy, reduce waste, and drive continuous improvement. This leader will design forward-thinking systems and processes that support efficiency, accountability, and visibility across the entire supply chain network.

Key Responsibilities Inventory Management & Optimization

Develop and implement a comprehensive inventory management strategy that balances cost, accuracy, and material availability.

Ensure real-time visibility and accuracy of inventory through technology.

Collaborate with procurement, production, and sales to align raw material and finished goods inventory levels with customer demand and operational capacity.

Identify obsolete, slow-moving, and excess inventory, and implement targeted reduction and recovery plans.

Standardize inventory strategies across facilities to ensure data integrity within the ERP/CRM system.

Supply Chain Leadership

Design, execute, and continuously refine the company’s end-to-end supply chain strategy to support production, distribution, and customer fulfillment goals.

Optimize inbound and outbound logistics, transportation efficiency, and warehouse utilization.

Lead supply chain risk management efforts, including contingency planning, supplier diversification, and crisis response strategies.

Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as fill rate, inventory turns, on-time delivery, and cost-to-serve metrics.

Off-Site Manufacturing Operations

Provide oversight and strategic direction for off-site manufacturing projects, ensuring alignment with corporate production standards and quality requirements.

Develop production schedules and capacity plans to meet companywide Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) objectives.

Partner with cross functionally to standardize off-site manufacturing processes and ensure compliance with Spectra specifications.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Collaboration

Lead and mentor a high-performing team of managers and supervisors in supply chain, inventory, and manufacturing functions.

Collaborate with Finance and Operations leadership to ensure accurate reporting of inventory valuations, cost of goods sold, and production variances.

Drive alignment between sales forecasts, production planning, and procurement activities to ensure seamless order fulfillment.

Partner with IT and ERP/CRM teams to enhance system capability, improve reporting, and strengthen data-driven decision-making.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on lean process implementation, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.

Strategic & Organization Impact

Contribute to long-range operational and capacity planning efforts, supporting the company’s growth and expansion strategies.

Participate in executive leadership meetings to represent supply chain and manufacturing perspectives in corporate decision-making.

Provide strategic insights to Senior Leadership regarding market trends, supply chain vulnerabilities, and investment opportunities.

Champion a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence consistent with Spectra’s values.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in supply chain, operations, or manufacturing management, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.

Proven success overseeing multi-site operations or off-site manufacturing environments.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Proficiency in ERP/MRP/CRM systems, inventory planning software, and data analytics tools.

Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence change, and build scalable operational systems.

Exceptional communication, financial acumen, and leadership skills, with the ability to translate strategy into execution.
