Inventory Control Specialist- A Shift (6:45am-3pm)

Position Summary:
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods to ensure seamless production and fulfillment operations. This role supports manufacturing and warehouse teams by performing regular cycle counts, investigating inventory discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with FIFO and lot-tracking standards. The Inventory Control Specialist partners closely with Production, Quality, and Procurement teams to uphold accuracy, efficiency, and traceability throughout the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Accuracy & Control
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts to ensure accurate inventory levels. Investigate and reconcile inventory variances, root-cause issues, and report findings to management. Maintain accurate records in the ERP system (e.g., Dayforce or other inventory modules). Verify material usage and production reporting against physical counts. Monitor warehouse storage areas for proper FIFO (First-In, First-Out) rotation and material identification. Ensure all raw materials and finished goods are labeled and stored in compliance with traceability standards. Support periodic physical inventories and year-end audits. Operations & Production Support
Coordinate with Production, Planning, and Procurement teams to ensure materials are staged for upcoming runs. Track material movements between production and warehouse, verifying system transactions. Monitor inventory levels and communicate potential shortages or overstock situations. Support packaging material replenishment and returns processes to minimize downtime.
Quality & Food Safety
Maintain accurate lot traceability and ensure materials meet food safety and quality requirements. Collaborate with the Quality team to quarantine and document non-conforming materials. Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, and SQF guidelines in all inventory handling and documentation. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate electronic and paper inventory records, including receiving, transfers, and usage logs. Prepare daily and weekly inventory reports for leadership review. Support KPI tracking related to accuracy, efficiency, and shrink reduction. Ensure documentation aligns with regulatory and internal audit standards.
Safety & Compliance
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and in compliance with LOTO and PPE standards. Maintain a clean, organized warehouse and inventory work area. Report any safety hazards or deviations immediately. Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred. 2+ years of experience in inventory control, materials management, or warehouse operations (food manufacturing preferred). Experience with ERP or inventory management systems (SAP, Oracle, Dayforce, etc.). Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to interpret and reconcile data from multiple systems. Understanding of FIFO, lot tracking, and traceability processes. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Frequent walking, bending, and standing for long periods. Comfortable working in warehouse and production environments (temperature-variable, noisy, or dusty).
