Enterprise Network Consultancy Services
Location:
Sacramento, CA
Contract Length:
12 months (with possible extension)
Work Mode:
Onsite
Interview:
Teams or In-person (F2F) at client discretion
Work Hours:
Monday through Friday. Onsite/Hybrid Schedule
Local candidates are strongly preferred.
Overview The client is engaging in cloud services with various investment firms to migrate existing on‑prem network solutions to cloud‑based solutions. The consultant will have in‑depth technical knowledge of network routing and switching along with Cisco Identity Services Engine, Cisco DNAC, and Cisco FTDs. The consultant must support and implement complex and dynamic network environments similar to CalPERS, focusing on the client’s Investment Office (INVO) network solutions, and on design, development, deployment, maintenance, and operations of these technologies.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks The scope of this project encompasses advanced network expertise and resources to support maintenance, critical incident response, and architecture/design of both existing and new INVO cloud solutions.
1. Network Architecture for Client Investment Office Cloud and On‑Premises Solutions
Network Architecture and Implementation:
Develop advanced network solutions to meet the needs of INVO’s cloud platforms (Snowflake, SimCorp) and partner products (BlackRock Aladdin, Charles River, Bloomberg, State Street Bank). Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure infrastructure supports unique data platform requirements.
High Availability and Resiliency:
Implement automated monitoring and failover mechanisms to ensure uninterrupted connectivity across core infrastructure. Design solutions for seamless transitions to alternate connectivity paths during failures, prioritizing critical applications.
Advanced Technology Integration:
Plan and design secure, modern networking technologies, including SDN, SD‑WAN, and NFV. Leverage Terraform and other IaC tools to automate provisioning, configuration, and management of network infrastructure. Align all integrations with enterprise goals for enhanced performance, scalability, and security.
This deliverable ensures that the client’s network infrastructure is scalable, secure, and optimized to support INVO’s critical business functions.
2. Enterprise Network Engineering and Advanced Technology Implementation
Network Operations and Maintenance:
Ongoing maintenance and operations for on‑premises and cloud‑based network components, including firewalls, F5 load balancers, Infoblox IP management, Identity Services Engine (ISE) for port security, VPN and site‑to‑site tunnels.
Wireless Networking:
Management of wireless infrastructure using Cacti and SolarWinds for alerting, monitoring, access control, secure CLI solutions, Cyclades management, Gigamon switch monitoring, and routing/switching.
Support for INVO Partner Products:
Provide network support for BlackRock Aladdin, Charles River, Bloomberg, State Street Bank, and other partner platforms to ensure seamless connectivity and optimal performance.
Advanced Technology Design:
Design and implement secure, modern networking technologies such as SDN, SD‑WAN, and NFV.
Performance Optimization:
Monitor and optimize network performance to ensure scalability, reliability, and security across all enterprise systems.
Communication:
Maintain consistent communication with the contract manager and stakeholders to provide updates, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project goals.
This deliverable ensures the client’s network infrastructure is equipped with cutting‑edge technologies and operational excellence to support current and future business needs.
3. Knowledge Transfer and Documentation The consultant will deliver a comprehensive knowledge transfer program to enable the client’s staff to independently manage and enhance the network infrastructure.
Knowledge Transfer Sessions:
Conduct regular meetings to review work products, cross‑train team members, and provide job shadowing opportunities.
Documentation:
Develop and maintain detailed documentation for all deliverables, including project status reports, business processes, triage incident reports with resolutions, meeting minutes, test cases and outcomes, as well as training programs focusing on network architecture best practices, advanced troubleshooting techniques, performance and cost optimization strategies, and platform management tools.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Must provide a copy of the degree.
5+ years of experience designing and implementing network architectures for enterprise‑scale environments.
5+ years of proven experience in SDN, SDA, SD‑WAN, and Cisco Identity Engine (ISE).
Proficiency in network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, VPN, firewalls, load balancers, routers/switches.
Valid certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCDE, PCNSE, NSE9, JNCDA, JNCDS‑DC.
