Job Description The Associate Director of Learning Experience Design (LXD) provides strategic leadership and direction for the design and development of Westcliff University’s academic programs and course offerings across multiple modalities. The incumbent leads the LXD team and partners with academic and institutional leaders to ensure the delivery of innovative, high‑quality, learner‑centered educational experiences.
Major Responsibility Areas Strategic Leadership and Oversight
Provide leadership and strategic direction for the LXD team, setting long‑term priorities and ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
Guide the continuous improvement of learning design frameworks, policies, and quality standards that promote academic rigor, innovation, and inclusivity.
Program Portfolio and Project Management
Oversee an expanded portfolio of course and program development projects across colleges and modalities.
Partner with deans and program chairs to plan and prioritize new program launches, curriculum revisions, and strategic academic initiatives.
Stakeholder and Institutional Collaboration
Serve as a strategic liaison among key academic and administrative units.
Facilitate clear communication and collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups to support smooth curriculum implementation.
Curriculum Excellence and Innovation
Act as an institutional consultant for curriculum mapping, program and university learning outcomes alignment.
Lead initiatives that integrate emerging learning technologies, pedagogical innovation, and data‑informed decision‑making into course and program design.
Leadership Development and Team Capacity Building
Mentor and develop LXD team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and creative problem‑solving.
Implement strategies for team capacity building and succession planning.
Institutional Reporting and Strategic Communication
Provide high‑level reports and insights on curriculum development trends, outcomes, and progress.
Contribute to institutional research and data reporting to inform program enhancement and innovation initiatives.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education: Master’s degree or higher in education, instructional design, learning science, or related field.
Experience: 7‑10 years of progressive experience in curriculum or program development, instructional design in higher education.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead high‑performing teams, manage complex projects, and drive strategic initiatives across multiple academic and administrative units.
Skills:
Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic planning capabilities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels.
Demonstrated success in navigating ambiguity, managing change, and delivering results in a fast‑paced academic environment.
Experience with learning management systems (preferably Moodle), instructional technologies, and data‑informed curriculum design.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Physical: Normal mobility, ability to sit and stand for extended periods, reach with hands and arms, lift up to 40 pounds.
Mental: Ability to read, recall, write, and understand information; manage multiple tasks concurrently under moderate pressure.
Environment: Typically performed in a clean, well‑lit, heated and cooled office area or classroom.
