About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemist/Formulator with deep expertise in dietary supplement formulation for the U.S. market. This individual will be responsible for developing evidence-based supplement formulations across multiple wellness categories, including gut health, diet and metabolism, cognitive performance, blood sugar, fungal balance, dental and skin health, neuropathy, and vision support. The ideal candidate has a solid background in nutritional biochemistry, pharmacognosy, or related life sciences, and a proven record of developing compliant, stable, and efficacious formulas aligned with FDA and FTC regulatory frameworks. You’ll collaborate closely with our product development, marketing, and regulatory teams to create innovative, science-backed formulations that support substantiated claims and consumer trust. This is a part-time consulting role, with opportunity to form a long lasting relationship with Magik Brands.

Key Responsibilities

Formulation Development:

Design and optimize dietary supplement formulations using clinically studied ingredients at effective dosages.

Ensure formulas are compliant with FDA and FTC regulations for dietary supplements and structure/function claims.

Translate scientific findings into actionable formulation strategies for new product concepts and line extensions.

Research & Evidence Support:

Review scientific literature (human and animal studies) to support ingredient efficacy and claims.

Develop formulation rationale documents citing peer-reviewed research and clinical data.

Identify new ingredients or delivery systems with emerging clinical evidence.

Regulatory & Manufacturing Interface:

Collaborate with manufacturing partners to ensure formula scalability, quality, and stability.

Oversee technical documentation, including COAs, stability studies, and specification sheets.

Maintain awareness of current FDA, DSHEA, and FTC guidelines, including labeling, claims, and marketing substantiation requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with marketing, legal, and product management teams to align formulation details with brand positioning and compliance.

Provide scientific support for marketing materials and product education.

Troubleshoot formulation and production challenges with contract manufacturers and suppliers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in

Chemistry, Biochemistry, Nutritional Science, Pharmacology, or a related field.

PhD preferred but not required.

Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in formulating dietary supplements for the U.S. market.

Demonstrated experience across multiple product formats (capsules, tablets, powders, gummies, and liquids).

Proven ability to align ingredient selection and dosages with clinical research and compliant structure/function claims.

Familiarity with cGMP manufacturing processes, quality control, and ingredient stability.

Working knowledge of FDA/DSHEA/FTC compliance and label claim substantiation.

Excellent written communication for research summaries and documentation.

Familiarity with ingredient databases (PubMed, Natural Medicines, Examine.com, etc.) and formulation software.
