Executive Director
Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and mission-driven Communications Coordinator to support VIDAS’s outreach, storytelling, and engagement efforts. In this part‑time role, you will help shape how we share the impact of our work, deepen connections with our community, and amplify the voices of those we serve. You will also provide essential information in a trauma‑responsive format across multiple platforms to keep our community informed of their rights and risks.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with team to develop and maintain a content calendar (social media, newsletters, website, blog) that aligns with VIDAS’s mission, values, and fundraising strategy.
Create engaging storytelling‑driven content (text, visuals, short video) that centers community members’ experiences, highlights impact, and respects dignity and equity.
Manage and post on social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) to grow awareness, engage audiences, and invite action.
Assist with email newsletters and donor/partner updates that cultivate relationship‑building, not just transactional appeals.
Maintain/update website content (landing pages, blog posts, event pages) to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and inclusive language.
Produce promotional materials (flyers, graphics via Canva or equivalent) for programs, events, community gatherings.
Monitor and report on key metrics (open rates, click‑throughs, social engagement, website traffic) and provide simple insights to drive continuous improvement.
Work with the team to support media relations and press outreach as needed (drafting press releases, coordinating interviews).
Ensure all communications reflect VIDAS’s commitment to equity, inclusion, community voice, and fundraising best practices (e.g., relationship‑first, transparency).
Uphold brand consistency and voice, and adhere to community‑centric fundraising principles: authenticity, reciprocity, stewardship.
Qualifications & Skills
Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills — able to craft clear, compelling messages that center people, not just programs.
Experience (or strong interest) in nonprofit communications, digital/social media, or content creation.
Comfortable using tools such as Canva (or similar), Mailchimp/Constant Contact (or equivalent), social‑media publishing, basic website CMS.
Basic ability to pull and interpret metrics and recommend improvements.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate across teams.
A passion for social justice, immigrant rights, and community‑driven work; deep respect for lived experience.
Preferred: bilingual in English/Spanish (or other relevant language for your community).
Preferred: Experience in grassroots/community‑based nonprofit environment; understanding of community‑centric fundraising/communications is a plus.
Compensation & Schedule Hourly rate:
$25‑$30/hr
(commensurate with experience)
~10‑15 hours weekly; schedule flexible, with some evenings or weekend hours possible depending on events or campaign timing.
Remote/hybrid work; occasional in‑person team meetings or community events in Sonoma/Napa/Solano region.
To Apply Please submit:
A brief cover letter (1 page max) describing your interest in the role, relevant experience, and how you approach community‑centered communications.
Resume
