Position: Senior Systems Architect & Design Engineer
Location: Richardson, TX
Project Duration: 3 months with possibility of extension or conversion
Rate: Negotiable Based on Experience

We are seeking a Senior Systems Architect & Design Engineer to lead the development and execution of system safety programs in compliance with MIL-STD-882E. This role involves performing detailed safety analyses, collaborating across engineering disciplines, and interfacing with government and customer stakeholders to ensure safety requirements are integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
Job Summary We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in safety engineering within defense or aerospace environments, strong analytical skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while managing complex technical programs.
Responsibilities
Develop Concept of Operations (CONOPS) documentation for missile defense systems.
Design and document Command & Control (C2) architectural approaches using DoDAF 2.0 formats.
Contribute to the technical implementation of DMRA Data Mesh architecture, including 15 core services.
Create multi-domain integration designs across 8 operational domains:
Air, Space, Maritime, Land, Cyber, Subsurface, Electromagnetic (EM), and Information.
Produce Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and API specifications to ensure system interoperability.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
10+ years of experience in missile defense or C2/Battle Management system development or integration.
Expertise in:
DoD Architecture Frameworks: DoDAF 2.0, MODAF, Systems Engineering Lifecycle (SEL).
C4ISR Systems: Track correlation, sensor fusion, fire control integration, battle management.
Data Architecture: Data mesh patterns, federated governance, microservices, event‑driven architectures.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for DoD systems.
Familiarity with the F2T2EA kill chain (Find, Fix, Track, Target, Engage, Assess), especially sensor fusion and data correlation.
Prior work with Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, or Northrop Grumman defense platforms.
Knowledge of Cross‑Domain Solutions (CDS), Multi‑Level Security (MLS), and Zero Trust Architecture.
Understanding of standards and frameworks such as:
CMOSS, SOSA, FACE, OMS/UCI, STANAG.
Experience with JADC2 or ABMS programs.
Familiarity with systems like AEGIS, THAAD, or Patriot.
Understanding of DDIL operations and coalition interoperability.
Background in AI/ML integration for defense applications, including experience with Maven or Lattice frameworks.
