Regional Field Service Technician (Midwest)
Job Description
Join our dynamic team as a Field Service Technician, where you'll embark on an exciting journey to deploy and maintain AI-powered robotic systems across the United States. Your first two weeks will involve training in Boston, MA, with a flexible schedule tailored to client needs.
Responsibilities
Provide advanced troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, and upgrades to deployed robots.
Lead new deployments and ensure smooth commissioning of robotic systems.
Act as the primary escalation point for high-impact technical issues in the field.
Deliver structured training for customers and technicians.
Ensure all deployment and maintenance documentation is completed accurately and on time.
Mentor and coach technicians, building technical depth and professionalism within the team.
Support triage and prioritization of maintenance tickets.
Participate in scheduling maintenance trips and resource allocation.
Model professional standards for reliability, communication, and customer interaction.
Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system issues.
Conduct root cause analysis and provide detailed field feedback.
Test and validate engineering solutions and beta prototypes in real-world conditions.
Contribute to the creation and continuous improvement of SOPs, deployment steps, and maintenance procedures.
Build expertise across the product to become a true product expert.
Essential Skills
Minimum 2+ years in field service, maintenance, or technical support roles.
At least 2+ years working with automation, robotics, or related electromechanical systems.
Strong troubleshooting experience with electromechanical systems.
Knowledge of automation systems, with robotics strongly preferred.
Experience with pneumatic systems, including fittings, valves, and regulators.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
Proven ability to work directly with customers in the field.
Strong communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts into simple terms.
Demonstrated mentoring or leadership experience in technical environments.
Strong organizational skills and documentation discipline.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
Tutor Intelligence is an MIT robotics startup deploying AI-powered robots to factories across the United States. In this role, you will help us deploy and care for a large fleet of robots that are transforming industrial automation.
Field Technicians spend a lot of time traveling to customer sites, installing new robots, and maintaining existing ones. When not traveling, they prepare for upcoming visits, ship spare parts, and assist customers with light repairs.
In this role, you will gain exposure to the entire robotic system — from nuts and bolts to electrical, pneumatics, and more — building both deep technical knowledge and broad problem-solving skills.
Travel is within the U.S. and usually involves a combination of flights and ground travel to reach customer sites.

This is a fully remote position.
