Maintenance Mechanic (Painter)

This position is open to employees of the Parks and Recreation Department in accordance with the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 31.
Under supervision, performs interior or exterior painting of buildings, structures, and equipment and does related work as required.
Responsibilities
Removes old paint and washes and cleans surfaces preparatory to painting.
Paints interiors and exteriors of public buildings in the park system and varnishes woodwork.
Paints street equipment, playground equipment, bridges, railings, fences, etc.
Fills, shellacs, and varnishes desks, tables, and furniture.
May do spray painting, plaster patching, and glazing.
Mixes and thins paints and varnishes as instructed.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Entrance Qualifications
Applicant must have at least two (2) years of paid experience as a painter.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must have and maintain a current Massachusetts Driver's License.
Ability to exercise good judgement and focus on detail as required by the job.
Pre-employment physical required.
CORI check required.
Terms Boston Residency Required

Hours per week: 40 Hours; Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
