General Description:

Performs inmate intake, and all essential duties pertaining to processing inmates into the Detention Center, as well as being able to perform clerical duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. • Responsible for entering all inmates into the (JMS) Jail Management System. • Responsible for fingerprinting and updating inmate fingerprint files as needed. • Responsible for collecting DNA when applicable. • Responsible for entering all warrants, tickets, court dates and attorney information into the (JMS) Jail Management System. • Responsible for entering all holds for other agencies, as well as alerts into the (JMS) Jail Management System. • Responsible for maintaining inmates' visitor request forms. • Responsible for logging all inmates' visitors into the (JMS) Jail Management System with a valid Identification and assisting with conducting visitation for inmates. • Responsible for stamping all inmates' outgoing mail. • Responsible for logging all inmates' incoming mail into the (JMS) Jail Management System. • Must ensure that inmate signs all paperwork during the intake process. • Responsible for making sure all PREA forms are completed to ensure that inmates are housed in the correct unit. • Answers and screen telephone calls; assists callers, and routes calls to appropriate personnel, as necessary. • Performs all other duties and related work as instructed and assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training. Computer skills is a must.

Reasoning Ability/Mathematical/Language Skills:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
