Our dairy cooperative is seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician to work 5:30am to 3:30pm, 4 days a week Sunday Through Wednesday. Responsibilities will include performing laboratory tests on finished products, plant samples and ingredients to ensure that company quality standards are met.
The Lab Technician is fully proficient in the duties of Lab Technician I and supports broader quality initiatives including environmental monitoring, sanitation verification, and water testing. This position plays a key role in laboratory operations, scheduling, and supply management, while serving as an advisor to both the lab and plant teams.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform all testing required within the laboratory, including bacteria, environmental, sanitation swabbing, and water testing. Conduct testing in accordance with approved standards such as the Methods for Examination of Dairy Products or other reference methods defined by the Quality Control Manager. Analyze instrument test results against reference standards to verify accuracy; conduct calibrations when required. Perform instrument maintenance and repairs; support service representatives during onsite service. Understand and administer the Product Hold/Release Program; publish hold reports and validate accuracy to ensure proper product disposition. Maintain and assist in plant sampling programs to ensure accurate and timely results; coordinate special sampling programs as required. Manage laboratory inventory and order supplies to ensure continuous operations. Maintain accurate laboratory records and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Report substandard results to plant management and document all corrective actions. Assist with scheduling of lab employees; act in an advisory capacity for lab operations. Support day-to-day maintenance, cleanliness, and organization of the lab. Collaborate with management, employees, suppliers, and customers to maintain and improve plant quality programs; participate in special projects to enhance process control and product quality. May perform additional responsibilities in support of lab and plant operations. Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required Proficient technical knowledge of analytical and microbiological test methods Ability to mentor and support other lab technicians Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills Ability to multitask effectively and meet deadlines Mature judgment and the ability to work independently Flexibility in scheduling and task management Why Join Us?
