Systems Administrator (Senior) Texas Children’s Hospital

Job Description We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to partner with the Information Services team in managing enterprise-level software and hardware across our hospital network. The successful candidate will keep our systems secure, reliable, and high performing while exploring new technology solutions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Install, configure, optimize, and administer servers and virtual machines.

Manage infrastructure enhancements to improve system reliability and performance.

Perform security and patch management, preventative maintenance, and performance monitoring.

Conduct capacity planning and growth analysis for enterprise servers.

Research and evaluate new technologies and tools for deployment and optimization.

Provide technical support and training to staff on operating systems, hardware, and networking.

Plan, test, and implement application software in production and test environments.

Contribute to disaster‑recovery planning, documentation, and execution.

Serve as a primary escalation point for complex system issues beyond the Help Desk level.

Skills & Requirements

High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in computer science preferred.

7+ years of experience administering enterprise‑level systems (a bachelor’s degree may substitute for 4 years of experience).

Strong knowledge of operating system administration, virtualization, performance tuning, capacity planning, and security best practices.

Experience with disaster‑recovery planning and execution.

Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
