is hiring a Cybersecurity Network Defense Analyst to support the USAF Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. This role is a 6‑month contract to hire, with night shift coverage (6 pm–6 am) and a Panama schedule (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off) including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities
Assist active duty, government civilians, and contractors within the network defense scope.
Prepare technical reports, meeting minutes, program plans, concepts of operations, contingency plans, and related documentation.
Support real‑time monitoring of all assigned IPS/IPS devices and provide operational reports.
Monitor network traffic, correlate operational events, and evaluate incident response analysis.
Coordinate JTF‑GNO Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) notices.
Maintain IDS/IPS devices and perform real‑time monitoring analysis.
Conduct Network Event Correlation, Advanced Traffic Analysis, Incident Response & Analysis, and Vulnerability Analysis.
Install, configure, and maintain IDS/IPS sensors; provide database and VPN technical support.
Provide network defense training and support Standardization & Evaluation (Stan/Eval) activities.
Track and process operational procedures; support systems and exercise planning.
Prepare network defense technical reports and deliver oral and written technical communications.
Provide on‑call support via cell phone after hours, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance / SCI eligible.
B.S. in a related field with 5+ years of relevant IT experience, or 7+ years of experience.
MCP (Server) – proof of passing Microsoft Exam 98-365 or equivalent 3+ years of Microsoft Server expertise.
Minimum 5 years of traffic and log analysis experience.
Extensive knowledge of network firewalls, computer and server log analysis, digital evidence collection and handling, incident response, network packet capture and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, Snort), standard DoD network topology and DMZ boundary protection, system analysis software (EnCase, FTK, etc.), SQL DB queries, and DoD Centaur analysis system.
Experience with DoD/AF incident reporting processes and IAVA notice processing.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in DoD, Air Force, and local base environments.
ITIL Foundation certification.
Clearance & Certifications
Active DoD TS Clearance / SCI eligible.
CEH certification – mandatory for application submission and interview.
CompTIA Network+ or CCNA – at least one required; remaining certifications must be completed within 30‑45 days of offer if not already held.
ITIL v4 Certification – required within the first 30‑45 days.
