Responsible for performing diagnostic cardiac and vascular ultrasound examinations including transthoracic, trans‑esophageal, and stress echoes by producing, assessing and evaluating cardiac and vascular ultrasound images and related data used by the physicians to render a medical diagnosis. Acquires and evaluates data while exercising discretion and judgment in the performance of clinical examination of adult, pediatric and geriatric patients for cardiac; adult and geriatric patients for vascular. Vascular ultrasound exams include: Carotid, venous upper and lower extremity, arterial upper and lower extremity, Transcranial Doppler, AV Fistula assessment, pseudo aneurysm assessment, venous reflux and vein mapping. Participates as a team member to ensure appropriate treatment to all co‑workers, physicians, and patients. May attend meetings or participate in programs to improve operations and services. May assist with the training of new personnel as needed. May perform cardiac and vascular procedures as needed at other facilities as patient volume requires. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e‑mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Job Requirements Minimum Education:
As required by certification and/or licensure
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in allied health science
Minimum Experience:
One year of Cardiac Ultrasound and Vascular ultrasound experience
Preferred Experience:
3 or more years Cardiac Ultrasound and vascular studies experience
Required Certification:
American Heart Association recognized BLS – Healthcare Provider
Restraint Skill Validation within 90 days of hire
Restraint Use Module within 90 days of hire
Preferred Certification:
Not Applicable
Required License:
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) within 1 year of hire
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
