Salary Range: $90,990 - $138,760 annually (determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.)

Project Overview Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States. As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team of contractors engineering and building the facility. The project is located in the high desert and wide‑open spaces of north‑central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, and 3 hours northeast of Reno.

Job Summary In this role, you will provide technical oversight of the project’s ES&H compliance activities through inspection of project field execution activities. You will assist project and construction management in implementing and complying with project safety requirements and in addressing ES&H issues as they arise during project execution. You will work directly with other project‑level functions (e.g., engineering, construction, subcontracts, procurement, project controls, document controls) to assist them in addressing the applicable ES&H requirements in their work activities and conduct daily site surveillance to verify adequate use of PPE, routine equipment inspections, and project ES&H initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

Provides assistance in a wide variety of Environmental, Safety, and Health disciplines to facilitate implementation of Bechtel's ES&H program and Management System.

Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary for the safety and health of employees and protection of the environment and communities.

Maintains ES&H databases, inclusive of incident events, audit/assessment findings, and corrective actions.

Performs statistical analysis of ES&H data to help identify performance trends and contributing factors as part of continuous improvement.

Identifies and supports any unique software systems and electronic innovation used by ES&H personnel.

Leads teams in conducting risk assessment, studies, mitigation planning, and monitoring in response to ES&H issues.

Prepares communications, writes reports, and prepares documents for program execution and records retention.

Assists with incident notifications, leads investigations, and prepares incident investigation reports.

Recommends and implements improvements in processes, procedures, and work activities to minimize hazard potential.

Participates in and may lead employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs.

Researches moderately complex issues and provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice.

Provides support to ES&H field and office personnel, inclusive of all ES&H disciplines.

Education and Experience Requirements

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or international equivalent) in a related field such as environmental, safety, health, or science.

8‑10 years of relevant experience (12‑14 years of experience may be considered for more senior roles).

Required Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of OSHA 1926 and 1910 regulations.

Understanding of Bechtel's ESH Core Processes is preferred.

Ability to perform root cause analysis for incident investigations.

Conducts Project Contractor Orientation.

Leads and implements Project ESH Audits and monitors completion of specified corrective actions.

Coaches Contractor Project and Safety Team on Bechtel Processes and expectations.

Knowledge of safety programs, engineering systems, principles, and methodologies.

Knowledge of national safety laws/regulations, regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry standards, and best management practices for minimizing ES&H risks during project execution.

Knowledge of hazardous materials and physical risks and mitigation mechanisms.

Experience in ES&H assessments/inspection during construction.

Experience in managing and providing technical oversight of ES&H subcontractors or consultants.
