Credit Risk Manager – Hedge Funds & Private Equity

Credit Risk Management (CRM) is a key function in protecting and ensuring we take prudent risk for Nomura.
CRM is looking to hire a Vice President responsible for managing counterparty credit risk with a focus on Hedge Funds, Private Equity, and other alternative assets.
Responsibilities:
Assess creditworthiness of clients and assign appropriate internal credit ratings and determine credit exposure appetite across traded products utilizing firm risk models
Perform client due diligence and financial analysis and summarize in written credit approval memos and reviews
Review and approve trading activity, margin requirements and structural enhancements to transactions
Negotiate legal documentation for traded products while having a good understanding of associated covenants
Maintain updated credit research on a portfolio of clients while reviewing reports, monitoring covenants, analyzing exposure and managing credit risk appetite
Collaborate with business, market risk, and cross functional teams while evaluating transactions within hedge funds, and private equities (fund financing, FX/IR hedging, DCFX, etc); providing recommendations and suggesting alternatives if required to optimize outcome
Participate in firm wide projects
Demonstrated ability to mentor junior members of the team
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
At least 8+ years of relevant experience, with understanding of market fundamentals within funds space across trading strategies
Experience in both hedge funds and private equity transactions/structures preferred
Knowledge of a range of traded products, and accounting
Interest in markets and ability to assess impact on the sector / portfolio
Advising and/or assisting teams in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks within team environment
Advising or assisting multi‑disciplinary teams across complex engagements with multiple workstreams and stakeholders
Leveraging effective business writing and verbal skills, including leveraging negotiation and consensus‑building to achieve results
Demonstrating business and project management acumen, executive presence and professionalism
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
