Job Description Primary Responsibility: The adjunct faculty members of Colorado Mountain College assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available to complement the teaching process. Faculty members must be committed to facilitating learning throughout our communities. While teaching is the most important role, the needs of our learners are also served when faculty engage in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities.
The college seeks innovative facilitators who are active in the art of teaching and passionate about extending academic opportunities to all students. Colorado Mountain College offers associate and bachelor’s degrees with a focus on positive classroom experiences and excellent outcomes for all students. CMC does not conduct research but instead focuses on teaching excellence in diverse classroom settings and programs. Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for dynamic classroom experiences and excellent academic opportunities and student support.
Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards) Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in the specific program or be eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:
Minimum of a master’s degree in the specific field for the position or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a related field. Example for business: business, finance, management, marketing, or related fields.
Minimum of one‑year full‑time teaching experience, or equivalent as an adjunct instructor. Higher education teaching experience preferred.
An equivalent or applicable combination of education and experience to perform the duties and responsibilities required.
Knowledge of pedagogy and teaching experience equating to two years; strong background in computers and technology; excellent organizational, general office, communication, and interpersonal skills; willingness to learn; ability to research, analyze data, and work independently toward established goals and deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications
Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
Essential Duties The following responsibilities and activities are listed to maintain consistency in the application of expectations and align job duties with evaluation and promotion procedures.
Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include teaching assigned course load, evaluating courses, assessing student learning, meeting established course and program outcomes, complying with guidelines and policies, maintaining office hours, developing rapport with students, and assisting with advising and orientation activities. Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly and creative activities that enhance discipline expertise and learning. Service activities include campus and college committees, relevant projects, mentoring peers, participating in assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting, and retention.
To teach classes as assigned by the designated supervisor.
To prepare appropriate lesson plans for each course in accordance with approved objectives.
To develop and submit course outlines and syllabi to the appropriate supervisor.
To assist with the development of measurable course objectives and plans.
To develop a professional relationship with students and staff that encourages communication.
To maintain accurate course records of students and complete required course forms.
Be available for student consultation.
To assist in the recruitment of students, as appropriate.
When agreed upon, to assist in evaluating curriculum and instructional performance.
To represent the college professionally throughout the community and college district by promoting a positive public image.
To engage in professional development as required for credentialing.
Supervision of the Position This position will report to the Assistant Dean of Instruction or designee in alignment with discipline deans.
Supervisory Responsibility The position may supervise student employees. Successful completion of a background check and, when applicable, a motor vehicles records report will be required.
Working Conditions This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; occasional handling, pushing/pulling, frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs; constant written and oral communication; and the ability to reason, analyze, and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
