Role To assist members and potential members with their financial transactions, involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments; explains services, responds to problems, and directs members to the appropriate people.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of teller functions by representing the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner. Receives share deposits and loan payments, disburses cash or check withdrawals, processes cash advances, travelers’ checks, cashier’s checks, money orders and wire transfers, verifies transactions, monitors deposit amounts and examines documents for endorsement and negotiability. Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.
Balances daily transactions and verifies cash totals. Investigates and resolves out‑of‑balance conditions.
Ensures that appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared.
Answers questions and solves problems for members by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers and reporting results to the inquiring party. Resolves member bookkeeping and checking account problems, takes stop payment orders, orders checks for members’ accounts, and completes appropriate forms for member’s needs.
Acts as liaison between members and various organizations and departments. Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and any significant problems or concerns.
Maintains member account information on computer system and ensures privacy of member account information. Performs file maintenance and account changes as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned such as drive‑up service and night drop functions, keeps work area clean, secure, and well maintained, performs related clerical duties, and attends meetings as required.
Knowledge and Skills Experience Under one year of similar or preparatory experience.
Education/ Certifications/ Licenses A high school degree or equivalent.
Interpersonal Skills Work involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates, generally routine matters requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
Other Skills Must have excellent knowledge of P1FCU products and services. Familiarity with various computer software programs, comfortable with automated technology. Proficient in typing, PC use, general office equipment including ten‑key calculator, Excel, and Word. Excellent organizational, editing, and communication skills with vendors, staff, members, and the general public.
ADA Requirements Physical Requirements
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting up to 10 lbs.
Capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situations.
Operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator.
Perform routine work on computer for an average of 6–8 hours per day.
Work extended hours when required or requested by management.
Capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
Working Conditions Routinely perform work indoors in a climate‑controlled shared work environment with moderate noise.
Mental And/or Emotional Requirements
Perform job functions independently with limited supervision.
Work effectively as part of a team.
Read and carry out written instructions and follow oral instructions.
Speak clearly and deliver information logically and understandably.
Perform basic financial calculations with accuracy.
