Reporting to the Vice Dean for Administrative and User Services, the Part‑Time Clerk Supervisor provides friendly, high quality customer service to Library patrons and assists with Circulation/Reserve/Periodical transactions.
Responsibilities
Assists with check-out/check-in of library materials.
Provides basic information and directional assistance to library users, both in person and via telephone.
Answers telephone and directs callers accordingly.
Monitors security and facilities in the building on nights/weekends and reports problems to Public Safety.
May perform other duties not specifically identified above but which require the same degree of skill, and which are normally included within the above job title.
Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word required.
Ability to exercise initiative and judgment, and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of general library operations preferred.
Hours
Monday: 5 pm – 11 pm
Friday: 5 pm – 11 pm
Saturday: 9 am – 5 pm
Sunday: 12 pm – 6 pm
Subject to bumping.
Salary: $19.21 per hour
Additional Information Hofstra University provides the above salary* as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range which considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture, and a benefits program which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions. *Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
