Relationship Banker II - Float | SPC/Champaign
Base pay range: $18.00/hr – $21.00/hr
Position Summary The Relationship Banker II Float combines expertise in customer service, sales, and operational management at an advanced skill level within the banking team. This role is an advanced position that blends the responsibilities of a teller and a personal banker, emphasizing the provision of comprehensive financial services to customers. The role requires deeper knowledge and expertise in banking products, customer service, and operational processes. It involves handling more complex transactions, guiding less experienced staff, continuing to build customer relationships, and promoting the bank’s services.
Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service & Relationship Management
Greet and engage customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing exceptional service to build lasting relationships.
Serve as a trusted point of contact for customers, ensuring the highest level of service is provided.
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through personalized service and proactive outreach, assisting with both routine and complex banking needs.
Provide guidance to customers on financial products and services that best meet their needs.
Sales & Cross‑Selling
Actively identify and promote all bank products and services.
Ask clients targeted questions to learn about their financial needs and goals.
Meet and exceed monthly sales and referral goals by engaging customers to assess needs and recommend suitable banking solutions.
Proactively seek opportunities to refer customers to other lines of business such as mortgage, wealth, treasury, and commercial.
Account Management and Support
Open and manage personal and business accounts ensuring accurate and compliant setup.
Assist with account maintenance tasks such as updating personal information, facilitating transfers, and processing check orders.
Support customers with online and mobile banking services, ensuring they are comfortable and knowledgeable about digital tools.
Loan & Credit Processing
Process and assist with customer loan applications, including personal loans and home equity lines of credit.
Conduct initial loan screenings, gather necessary documentation, and work closely with loan officers or other departments to ensure a smooth approval process.
Educate customers on loan products, eligibility requirements, and loan terms.
Transactions & Cash Handling
Process transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
Balance cash drawer and ensure transactions are accurately recorded and processed.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and detect suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity, escalating issues to management and other departments.
Adhere to privacy regulations and handle customer data securely and confidentially.
Team Support and Mentorship
Assist newer staff by providing guidance on bank products, customer service skills, and operational procedures.
Help foster a collaborative and positive work environment by sharing knowledge and supporting day‑to‑day operational needs.
Branch Operations & Administrative Support
Assist with daily branch operational tasks, including balancing cash, managing branch supplies, and supporting the opening and closing of the branch.
Support branch leadership in maintaining branch security and ensuring operational efficiency.
Education & Experience Knowledge Of
Strong sales and customer service skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Basic math and accounting functions
Core lending tenets and assessing customer financial needs
Ability To
Accurately count money
Perform duties and make decisions under frequent time pressures
Stand for extended periods of time
Lift up to 50 pounds
Explain products and services to current and potential customers
Participate in cross‑selling with banking center leadership and other lines of business
Education and Training
High school diploma required.
Minimum two years of banking experience with lending responsibilities.
One year of previous training and/or combination of mentorship, military or management experience required.
Required registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) for all lending Relationship Bankers. If not active at hire, must attain active registration immediately. Failure to maintain registration results in inability to lend and may lead to termination.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
