This role will be embedded within the Cardiometabolic Health (CMH) business unit. Responsibilities
The Associate Director – CMH Communications is a critical member of the CMH Communications team, responsible for leading internal communications, executive visibility, and strategic communications planning for priority CMH medical meetings. This role will work closely with CMH leadership, including the Executive Vice President and President of CMH, to elevate the business unit’s reputation and connect employees to the impact of CMH milestones, activities and mission. Internal Communications Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive internal communications strategy that connects CMH employees to the business purpose, leadership vision, and strategic priorities. Internal Communications Leadership: Lead planning and execution of CMH-wide events such as Town Halls, Summits, and other employee engagement forums. Internal Communications Leadership: Create engaging, visually dynamic content across channels including executive emails, videos, newsletters, and intranet features that foster connection, clarity, and pride in the work. Internal Communications Leadership: Partner with IT and analytics teams to measure engagement, benchmark performance, and continuously improve communications effectiveness through data-driven insights. Internal Communications Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and elevate compelling stories that reflect the values and impact of CMH. Executive Visibility
Lead the executive visibility plan for the Executive Vice President and President of Cardiometabolic Health, including thought leadership strategy, speechwriting, stakeholder communications, and external positioning. Develop and manage a cadence of communications that reflect the executive’s strategic vision, leadership voice, and business priorities across internal and external platforms. Support participation in key industry forums, media opportunities, and leadership engagements to enhance visibility and influence. Medical Meeting Communications
Develop and lead the communications approach for priority CMH medical meetings, aligned with data disclosures, scientific milestones, and business objectives. Partner with medical, regulatory, and commercial teams to ensure timely, accurate, and impactful messaging that resonates with key stakeholders. Coordinate with global affiliates to ensure consistency and alignment across geographies and channels. Strategic Communications Support
Provide strategic counsel to CMH leadership and cross-functional partners on communications planning, messaging, and execution. Support franchise-level communications initiatives not tied to specific brands, including disease awareness, advocacy, and enterprise reputation efforts. Lead and continuously update the CMH narrative, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency across all communications and alignment with the corporate communications north star, “Health Above All.” Partner with Corporate Communications colleagues across executive, digital, social, and employee communications to ensure alignment, amplification, and integration of CMH priorities into enterprise storytelling. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. 8+ years of communications experience, including internal communications, executive communications, and strategic planning. Experience supporting a business unit and aligning communications with brand, medical, and business objectives. Knowledge of diabetes, obesity, and related metabolic diseases is preferred. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.
