This role combines client-facing media finance support with internal agency finance discipline: forecasting, margin management, reconciliations, billing, vendor & partner payments, and insightful reporting. Ideal for an analytically strong, detail-oriented person experienced with agency finance, media buys, and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll own financial processes that enable media planning, buying, and agency operations to run profitably and transparently. This role combines client-facing media finance support with internal agency finance discipline: forecasting, margin management, reconciliations, billing, vendor & partner payments, and insightful reporting. Ideal for an analytically strong, detail-oriented person experienced with agency finance, media buys, and cross-functional collaboration. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Media Finance Operations Review and reconcile media invoices, insertion orders (IOs), and publisher/vendor statements against buy orders and campaign delivery. Verify third-party media charges, ensure contractual compliance, and resolve discrepancies with media vendors and buyers. Manage agency markups, rebates, and commission calculations; ensure correct application in client billing. Client Billing & Revenue Recognition Prepare and validate client invoices for media, fees, and production; work with account teams to ensure timely, accurate billing. Support revenue recognition in line with agency policies and accounting standards (ASC 606 or local equivalent). Maintain audit-ready billing files and documentation. Build and maintain media spend forecasts, margin analyses, and profitability models (campaign-level and client-level). Produce regular finance & business reports for account leads and senior management (pipeline, burn rates, margin by client/vertical, cash flow). Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support client pitches, program changes, and media strategy decisions. Manage media vendor payments and reconcile agency accounts payable related to media buys. Track agency receivables related to media pass-through and manage collections escalations as needed. Process & Controls Improve and document finance processes and controls for media procurement, billing, reconciliations, and vendor management. Partner with procurement, legal, and operations to ensure contract terms are reflected in financials. Support internal and external audits. Cross-functional Partnering & Communication Act as finance liaison to media buying/planning teams, account leads, and client finance contacts. Train account teams on finance policies, tools, and best practices related to media buys and billing. QUALIFICATIONS 5+ years of finance experience in an advertising/media agency, media owner, or media holding company environment. Strong understanding of media buying mechanics: IOs, insertion orders, programmatic, DSP/SSP basics, VAST/VMAP for digital/video, and TV/OOH buy structures. Proven experience with client billing, revenue recognition, and margin analysis. Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial systems (NetSuite, SAP, QuickBooks, or similar) and adtech/billing platforms (e.g., Mediaocean, Strata, Operative, The Trade Desk) a plus. Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work under deadline pressure. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and vendor contacts. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field; CPA or CMA is a plus but not required.
