Job Overview The Manager, Product & Engineering is responsible for executing the design, product and technical build, support and maintenance of a key product or limited product portfolio, as well as the supporting technology capabilities and infrastructure that support that product in an Agile driven environment. Most often leading teams of 5 - 10 FTE, and may lead teams of onshore and offshore contracting companies. Direct reporting line may include team(s) of Product Manager(s), Product Owner(s), technical and solution architecture, DevOps management, UI / UX, Test, as well as full stack Software Development.
The Manager, Product & Engineering is also responsible for attracting, hiring, retaining a high performing, full stack, team of Product Managers, Software Developers, architects, other members of technical staff to support products and platforms. This role is also directly accountable for developing strong and productive relationships outside your direct teams with Customer or Customer representative teams, partner organizations, dependent engineering teams, and supporting vendors.
Job Responsibilities
Effectively manages product and engineering team to achieve results by providing appropriate direction, timely developmental feedback and coaching, and conducting performance reviews and conversations. Monitors and measures work tasks to ensure deliverables are provided on time and within budget.
Manages both technical relationships with assigned vendors, including driving features and function requests for inclusion in future product releases.
Drives continuous development practice improvements across technical disciplines (e.g. team structure, roles, processes, tooling, security & compliance).
Interviews and hires qualified team members, striving to improve T-Mobile bench strength and augmenting product or project teams with contract staff when required.
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Engineering, IT or equivalent experience. (Required)
4-7 years - Product Management experience in an agile software product development environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Agile Methodologies Knowledge in software with Agile Scrum methodologies and other commonly used tools. (Required)
Technical Writing Strong requirements elicitation, and proven writing skills including the ability to write concisely and clearly for different audiences. (Required)
Agile Knowledge of the overall execution relating to all aspects of an agile development team, from defining the strategy and architecture through deployment and support. (Required)
Agile Project Management Experience with Agile backlog/project management tools. (Required)
Technology Experience in delivering large and complex business/technology initiatives. (Required)
Communication Proven ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with Leadership, while employing a high degree of collaboration and influence. (Required)
Collaboration Experience with successive elaboration and ability to develop Initiatives, Features and User Stories that the DevOps teams can ingest. (Required)
Business Analysis Strong analytical skills with ability to identify/analyze/synthesize product use data. (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Scrum Product Owner Certification (CSPO) (Preferred)
Other Technical Certification Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) (Preferred)
