Job Summary We are looking for a highly organized and technically skilled Prepress Manager to lead our digital printing prepress operations. In this role, you will oversee a team responsible for preparing customer files for digital print production, ensuring quality, speed, and accuracy in every job. This includes managing file intake, preflighting, color correction, imposition, and personalization copy setup. This key leadership role supports rapid production workflows and high-volume output in a fast‑paced digital print environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Workflow Management
Supervise, train, and support a team of prepress technicians in a fast‑paced digital print environment.
Plan and allocate daily workload to meet tight deadlines and client expectations.
Continuously improve workflows to increase speed and reduce file errors and rework.
Facilitate performance evaluations for team members.
Digital File Preparation
Oversee intake and preflight of customer files (PDFs, native Adobe files, etc.) for compatibility with digital and offset presses.
Ensure accurate imposition, file optimization, and alignment with production specs (color space, bleeds, margins, resolution).
Prepare files for digital print jobs including short runs, on‑demand jobs, high‑volume variable data print (VDP) as well as outsourced components.
Quality Assurance
Assist in creating, executing, and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Oversee file processing and revision completion to maintain accuracy and quality standards.
Utilize color management tools to maintain consistent color reproduction between proofing and production devices.
Technology & Maintenance
Manage software and systems used in digital prepress, including Adobe Creative Suite applications, Fiery Command WorkStation, imposition tools, and preflighting applications.
Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies to improve workflow and output.
Collaboration & Communication
Serve as a liaison between design, sales, customer service, and production teams to clarify file requirements and resolve issues.
Communicate effectively with customer service to request revised files or explain prepress changes when necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years of prepress experience in a digital printing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) and Enfocus PitStop.
Familiarity with various print processes: offset, digital, wide‑format, etc.
Understanding of digital color management, ICC profiles, and calibration processes.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
Proven ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple job queues simultaneously.
Valued Qualifications
Experience with Fiery Command WorkStation, imposition software (e.g., Impostrip, Preps), or VDP tools like Quadient Inspire Designer.
Familiarity with automation workflows (e.g., Enfocus Switch, hot folders, scripts).
Background in on‑demand printing, personalized marketing, or direct mail production.
