Organized, Detail‑Oriented, Effective Communicator, and Critical Thinker: Able to demonstrate a consistent track record of working in a highly organized, well‑thought‑out, and detail‑oriented manner. Candidates are expected to be self‑starters and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Case Management and California Litigation Experience: Hands‑on experience with thoughtful, proactive engagement in cases assigned. Candidates are expected to manage documents, assist with discovery, and prepare case filings with little supervision.

Familiarity with Legal Tech: Proficiency in using legal technology such as Clio, Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Pro, and Westlaw (or similar programs) is a must. Our firm is primarily paperless, and tech‑savvy professionals thrive in our modern practice. Experience with e‑discovery is highly valued.

Job Responsibilities

Prepare pleadings, letters, and other writings.

Prepare, finalize, and serve party discovery demands such as interrogatories, requests for production of documents, requests for admission, and notices of taking deposition.

Prepare, issue, and serve deposition and trial subpoenas for personal appearance and production of business and other records. Follow up regarding outstanding subpoenas.

Support and manage the collection, logging, and organization of documents from clients and other custodians, as well as the production of documents. Perform document reviews to analyze and collect evidence for discovery and trial. Prepare and organize witness information. Review and summarize written discovery responses and deposition transcripts. Organize supporting documents for hearings, arbitrations, and trials.

Maintain familiarity with the Code of Civil Procedure, Probate Code, California Rules of Court, and Local Rules relevant to our practice. Collaborate with a team of attorneys and paralegals to deliver comprehensive legal services.

While the job focus is on litigation cases, there is also the possibility of working on non‑litigation focused matters such as conservatorships, trust administrations, and probates. Experience in these types of matters is a plus, but not a requirement of this position.

Participate in firm‑wide initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and Paralegal Certificate from an ABA‑approved paralegal program. Equivalent combination of education and/or experience considered.

Two or more years of substantial civil litigation or trusts and estates litigation experience in California state courts.

Familiarity with the California Code of Civil Procedure and Rules of Court.

Expertise in Adobe Pro, the entire Microsoft Office 365 Suite, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Westlaw, Clio, and electronic filing systems in probate, state, and federal courts (and related e‑filing portals such as Rapid Legal), transcript management software, and electronic discovery databases such as Relativity.

Ability to work independently and efficiently while working on a caseload of complex matters.

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Excellent research, writing, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Must be able to sit for prolonged periods. Standing desks are provided.

We are a casual office and offer flexibility and remote work as needed. While we prefer to consider this position hybrid in‑office and remote, we are open to considering a fully remote role.
