Position Overview:
The Events and Communication Manager is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing, communications, and events strategy to advance Family Services’ mission. This role will oversee all aspects of event planning, branding, media relations, and digital engagement to ensure a unified and compelling presence across all platforms. Collaborate with the VP of Philanthropy to cultivate corporate sponsorships, manage agency-wide communications, and support donor engagement initiatives.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, leading marketing and event efforts that drive awareness, engagement, and funding for critical community programs. Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered
3+ years of relevant experience in nonprofit marketing, events, public relations, or fundraising
Proven ability to develop and implement marketing campaigns and fundraising events that drive engagement and revenue
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in storytelling, press releases, and donor messaging
Proficiency in social media management, website content creation, and digital marketing strategies
Knowledge of donor databases and event management software
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required for events
Experience managing corporate sponsorships and donor cultivation strategies
Enthusiastic, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively

Position Responsibilities Public Relations, Marketing, and Communications
Develop and execute a marketing and communications strategy aligned with Family Services’ mission and fundraising goals
Ensure branding consistency across all internal and external communications, including donor messaging, advocacy campaigns, and program promotions
Oversee digital strategy, including social media management, website updates, email marketing, and engagement analytics
Manage relationships with media outlets, proactively seeking press opportunities and responding to inquiries
Develop marketing materials to support fundraising, including events, appeals, and annual reports
Serve as the liaison with marketing, graphic design, and website consultants
Provide guidance and training to staff on branding, messaging, and external communications
Lead marketing campaigns such as Fifty2 End Stigma, increasing public awareness and engagement
Events Management
Develop and implement a strategic vision for agency events that aligns with fundraising and engagement goals
Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of major agency events in collaboration with the VP of Philanthropy, including but not limited to:
Family of the Year Dinner
Fifty2 End Stigma
Report to the Community Luncheon
Press conferences, ribbon cuttings, and other community events
Oversee event sponsorships and in-kind donations, ensuring sponsors receive all benefits and recognition
Develop and track event revenue goals, manage budgets, and analyze event effectiveness through data and metrics
Collaborate with Board members, volunteers, and stakeholders to enhance event engagement and fundraising success
Lead event logistics, including guest lists, staffing, and execution to ensure seamless experiences
Assist in donor cultivation events to strengthen relationships and increase agency funding
Corporate Sponsorship and Fund Development
In partnership with the VP for Philanthropy, develop and execute a corporate sponsorship program, including outreach, benefits, and long-term relationship-building
Create compelling sponsorship proposals tailored to corporate partners, emphasizing impact and business benefits
Foster year-round engagement with corporate sponsors beyond events, exploring opportunities for deeper partnerships such as cross marketing
Supervision and Administration
Ensure adherence to gift acceptance, tracking, and donor stewardship policies in collaboration with the finance team
Supervise the Development and Marketing Assistant
Engage with the Board’s Development Committee
Maintain accurate marketing and event data within the NEON database
Provide regular reports and insights on marketing and event performance
Ensure compliance with branding and messaging across all agency departments
Support additional development activities and campaigns as needed
Other duties as assigned
