Base Pay Range $18.50/hr - $27.75/hr
Major Responsibilities
Maintain all assigned O.R. suites, ancillary areas and department areas in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.
Clean all assigned areas utilizing established department procedures.
Clean assigned carts equipment daily; ensures all items are returned in an orderly manner.
Replenishes supplies such as paper towels, toilet tissues, soap, etc. Requests supplies and equipment as needed.
Routinely collect waste; sanitize all garbage cans on an ongoing basis.
Observes and follows Standard Precaution, Infection Control, OSHA, Accrediting Organization, IDPH and departmental policies and procedures.
Clean or sanitize after emergence spills as requested.
Ensures a safe clean attractive environment for patients, staff and visitors at all times.
Wash hands thoroughly throughout the day; follow and adhere to hospital policy.
Promotes patient safety by reporting issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives.
Maintain all assigned O.R. suites, ancillary areas, department areas, and clinic areas and corridors with the correct preventative maintenance procedures as outlined in department policy.
Operate various equipment following department procedures.
Use chemicals and solution following department policy.
Keep work orderly, clean and safe.
Use appropriate procedures following OR room turnover.
Thoroughly sanitize OR bed for turnover and make beds with clean linen in accordance with department procedures.
Thoroughly sanitize entire OR for turnover, utilizing established department guidelines and productivity measures.
Use appropriate germicide in disinfecting rooms.
Perform hard surface floor and carpet care in all assigned areas following appropriate departmental procedures.
Identify types of soiling and/or spotting and utilize proper solutions as outlined in department policy and procedures with no documented incidents of misuse.
Handle chemicals and solutions following department policy.
Ensure that all chemicals and solutions are in properly labeled containers.
Adhere to safety regulations as outlined in department policy and procedures.
Assist in enhancing productivity and efficient operations of the department.
Exhibit timely, satisfactory completion of all assignments.
Exercise initiative, seeking additional tasks from supervisor or other staff members when time permits.
Promote effective interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships, maintaining professional conduct at all times.
Demonstrate ability to identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively when dealing with members of the organization.
Demonstrate a supportive attitude toward patient, families and other personnel emergency and non-emergency situations.
Display patience and tact when dealing with other hospital personnel.
Present department in a positive manner to all contacts.
Maintain courteous and pleasant attitude to patient's families and visitors.
Utilize appropriate department chain of command in resolving complaints, grievances or problems.
Demonstrate commitment to professional growth.
Attend all mandatory departmental and hospital meetings and in-services.
Follow written goal and objectives and review annually with supervisor.
Seek education and learning experiences in areas of identified growth needs and review progress during annual evaluation.
Inspect and utilize judgment in determining which cleaning techniques outlined in orientation guidelines to follow.
Analyze floors or carpet conditions and determine proper cleaning techniques, following department procedures.
Maintain hard surface floors and carpets following departmental procedures.
Maintain responsibility for attendance and punctuality.
Maintain proper attendance requirement as outlined in department policy and procedures.
Plan for special days off in advance and give appropriate notice to supervisor per department policy and procedure.
Request vacation time in accordance with department policy.
Provide adequate notice to supervisory personnel in accordance with department policy.
Education & Experience Required
High school graduation or equivalent is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
No previous experience necessary.
CPR certification.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Demands walking, standing, handling, climbing and lifting throughout the work day.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For lifts over 35 pounds, lifting equipment is expected to be used or lift with at least one other associate when available. Unique lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case by case basis.
