Responsibilities
Review patient medical records and accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS classification systems
Manage and mentor a team of certified professional coders, including conducting quality reviews and training
Analyze coding denials and provide feedback to improve coding practices and compliance
Maintain productivity standards and oversee day-to-day operations of the PB Coding Operations Team
Develop and implement strategies for improving efficiencies and coding team productivity
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
CPC – Certified Professional Coder certification
Minimum of five years of coding experience, including education/mentoring, with at least three years in a management role
In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions, as well as hospital reimbursement methodologies
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in an academic medical setting or trauma center
Knowledge of payer claim edits and denials
Familiarity with computerized billing and charging systems
Proven ability to provide hands-on education based on audit findings
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals
