Posted 1 day ago. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire is a dynamic organization that supports 200 staff across 30 early childhood and school time programs. We are hiring preschool lead teachers for the brand-new Rowe Family Early Learning Center in Penacook. The position supports the BGC mission, children’s learning, and ensuring health and safety.
Base pay range:
$20.56/hr – $22.65/hr
Responsibilities
Creates an environment that facilitates youth development outcomes.
Responds sensitively to interests, requests, and needs of individual children; encourages exploration and uses positive child guidance strategies.
Provides guidance and role modeling by planning curriculum to meet the individual needs of youth via emergent curriculum.
Establishes and maintains program goals to ensure health and safety of children.
Tracks outcome metrics and evaluates programs.
Uses child observation notes for curriculum planning and keeps accurate records.
Accounts for children by name and face.
Oversees implementation of NAEYC standards, GSQ, Culture DNA code, BGCCNNH and CCLU rules regarding safety, compliance.
Dispenses medications, administers first aid, communicates to families.
Assists in cleaning, organizing, maintaining classroom well‑being.
Oversees record‑keeping and weekly reporting; provides data to Center Director and other staff.
Facilitates communication with families, staff, children.
Supervises classroom staff, students, volunteers; provides feedback.
Supports volunteers, practicum students, and staff.
Leads planning meetings with teaching team.
Increases visibility of programs via postings, announcements, social media, family emails.
Other duties as assigned.
Relationships Internal: Maintains daily contact with staff, volunteers, members, families, students, and supervisors.
External: Maintains contact with community groups, schools, parents, and others to resolve problems.
Qualifications
Lead teacher qualified (18 credits), 2 years experience in early childhood education or similar.
Must be 18+ and have at least 1,000 hours in a licensed program.
Knowledge of current methods, principles, techniques of teaching.
Knowledge of curriculum development and application.
Ability to plan and implement quality programs; creative and artistic teaching strategies.
Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior.
Ability to motivate members and manage behavior problems with patience.
Ability to organize and supervise children in a safe environment.
Ability to communicate with staff, families, community members in various methods.
Willingness to maintain appropriate appearance; adapt to learning styles.
Must obtain CPR and First Aid certifications per licensing requirements.
May be required to drive the club van/short bus periodically.
Must possess safe driving record; submit copy to Operations Director or HR.
Required to assist in cleaning and organizing club.
Must maintain confidentiality.
Willing to travel between locations when requested (occasional).
Additional Expectations
All candidates will submit for FBI fingerprint background check and State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and FirstAdvantage check.
Zero tolerance policy for abuse and mistreatment; disciplinary action up to termination.
