Department RWJ-Pediatric Genetics
Overview New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS), takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University–New Brunswick and collaborating university-wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and five centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research.

Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the department of Pediatrics at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The primary purpose of the research assistant position is to support research on the feasibility of DNA sequencing–based newborn screening protocol.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Recruiting newborn babies to participate in the Begin NGS project.
Obtaining research consent from the mothers of the newborns.
Reporting results of the testing.
Entering data for positively testing babies in RedCap.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Salary Details A range of $35–45 per hour.

Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience:
Undergraduate degree in biology or graduate degree in genetic counseling.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in genetic counseling/clinical research.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements.
Work Environment: Laboratory environment; moderate noise.
