Travel Submission Requirements: Can only submit to 1 position at a time across the entire WVU system Drivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility Previous perm candidates must be gone for 2 years Previous travelers there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years Individual unit requirements listed in pulse apply. Travel teams must be submitted together in 1 email We are only permitted to submit 2 candidates per opening, if the position is at max, we will hold on to the submission if a spot opens up *ALL SUBMITTALS MUST INCLUDE A UNEXPIRED COPY OF THE CANDIDATES DRIVES LICENSE* COVID VACCINE REQUIRED: Fully vaccinated means either 2 shots of Moderna or Pfizer or 1 shot of J&J; If a traveler wants to decline based on a Medical or Religious reason, please have them fill out the appropriate Exemption Form and email it to the address on the form. These should be done ASAP as they have to go through a council to be approved or denied Unit "7 EAST - Trauma & General Surgery Inpatient Unit. Also a Nationally recognized Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Center (This unit is Stepdown & Floor)" # of beds 30-33 Total Beds (12-15 Floor, 18 Stepdown) Ratios 1:6 for Floor patients, 1:3 for Stepdown patients Required Certifications BLS is required Common diagnoses/Types of patients Multi-trauma, TBI, Fractures, General Surgery (choles, ostomies, etc.); Bariatric Surgery – Other typical Med-Surg as needed Experience or 'Must have' skills Must have experience with complex wound care, drains, devices, traumatic injuries, Chest tubes, respiratory support, TBI's, complex spinal cord injuries, as well as other medical & surgical conditions. Are RNs required to titrate drips? Unknown Common titratable &/or set rate drips "Floor - Heparin, PCA's Stepdown - Insulin, Cardizem, etc. (non-pressers)" Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Budgeted Free Charge Nurse 24/7 - House Supervisor available Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios Called 'Clinical Associates' will have 4 when fully staffed RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc.) RT available 24/7 - They do have stable/chronic vents only Is there tele on this unit? Monitor techs? RNs read strips? Yes - they do have monitor techs who will read/run, & monitor; however, the RN must be able to validate, so they will need to be able to read strips. Shifts & Scheduling 7a-7:30p; 7p-7:30a Weekend Requirement EOW or 2 weekends per 4-week schedule Holiday Requirement Yes - will work into the perm staff holiday schedule as needed Is there a call or standby requirement? We are a high-impact, fast-paced nursing unit that works with challenging patient-care issues allowing nurses to practice at the top of their scope and abilities. On 7 East we encounter a variety of patient conditions and care modalities. We see complex wound care with a variety of drains and devices, traumatic injuries, including chest-wall injuries requiring chest-tubes and respiratory support, traumatic brain injuries presenting their own complex challenges, and complex spinal cord injuries as well as other medical and surgical conditions that our patients experience. 7 East nurses work collaboratively with care management, surgical and medical services, rehabilitation services and perioperative services. 7 East is also a nationally-recognized Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Center, working with patients undergoing Bariatric weight-loss surgeries and experiencing the renewal that can provide those patients. 7 East has both step-down and floor patients allowing nurses to experience two levels of care, the breadth and time-management of the floor, and the depth and critical thinking of the step-down. We maintain a ratio of 1:6 for the floor and 1:3 for the Step-down. "
