Job Title: Bus Driver

Status: Part Time Non-Exempt Department: Youth Development

POSITION SUMMARY: The Bus Driver plays a vital role in advancing the YMCA's mission of strengthening community by connecting people to their potential, purpose, and one another. This position provides safe and reliable transportation to and from YMCA program sites while maintaining a supportive, welcoming, and respectful environment for all passengers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safely operates YMCA bus in compliance with YMCA policies, state laws, and traffic regulations. Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections, record mileage, fuel, and maintenance needs. Maintain a clean and organized bus interior; ensure first aid supplies are stocked. Announce and enforce bus safety rules with consistency and fairness. Ensure passenger safety by maintaining awareness of behavior and responding appropriately to concerns. Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and volunteers. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding schedules, issues, or incidents. Respond calmly and appropriately in emergency situations. Uphold YMCA policies and represent the organization with professionalism, integrity, and respect. Model YMCA core values and use the Y-Voice: Welcoming, Hopeful, Determined, Genuine, and Nurturing. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the YMCA's mission and strategic goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 21 years of age. At least one year of work experience as a bus driver preferred. Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement. Possess a valid driver's license with appropriate class designation for passenger vehicles. Knowledge of commercial passenger vehicle safety and regulations. Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Previous experience working with diverse populations. Desire and ability to work with children. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision. REQUIRED TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS: (or willingness to complete within designated timeframe upon hire)

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement (required upon hire) Bloodborne Pathogens Training (or equivalent approved by the YMCA) Mandatory Child Abuse Reporting Certification Emergency Procedures Training CPR and First Aid Certification WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to safely operate a bus for extended periods of time. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and passenger hazards. Ability to respond calmly and quickly to emergency situations. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions such as wind, sun, and seasonal temperatures.
