SCHEDULE: 3:30 pm - 4:20 PM EST Mon-Fri, Aug-June
QUALIFICATIONS:
Meet Michigan school bus driver certification and licensing requirements.
Meet state physical examination requirements
Be able to motivate students to follow directions.
HOURS: As required August 11, 2025 - June 9, 2026
JOB GOAL: Operate school bus and other vehicles for the purpose of transporting students and staff to and from designated locations while providing professional and safe service.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
Make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.
Move two or more limbs together (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while remaining in place.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Practice safe driving habits
.
2. Report any suspected vehicle problems immediately to the bus mechanic or transportation supervisor.
3. Report disruptive student (discipline form) to the transportation supervisor.
4. Perform a pre-trip inspection. (Beginning School Bus Driver Curriculum Student Manual, latest edition).
5. Perform a during-trip inspection (Beginning School Bus Driver Curriculum Student Manual, latest edition).
6. Perform an after trip inspection (Beginning School Bus Driver Curriculum Student Manual, latest edition).
7. Use ONLY established routes and bus STOPS.
8. Operate bus on approved time schedule.
9. Report bus accidents and injuries to Transportation Supervisor. Use accident reports.
10. Conduct emergency evacuation drills.
11. Instruct riders about proper attitude and behavior on school bus.
12. Perform bus housekeeping duties.
13. Fill gas tanks.
14. Observe all procedures contained in State Guidelines and the bus driver's manual.
15. Assist others in developing safe, direct bus routes.
16. Observe and follow any other responsibilities listed in the administration guidelines.
17. Report any student concerns to the Transportation Supervisor.
18. Any other responsibilities assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or Superintendent.
PERSONAL PERFORMANCE CRITERIA • Works well with others, maintaining positive and effective communication with school personnel. • Contributes to creating a positive work environment. • Demonstrates integrity and respects confidentiality. • Arrives on time and works consistently until the end of his/her scheduled day. • Demonstrates ability to make sound judgments and adjust as needed in a changing environment. • Demonstrates initiative and ability to work without close supervision. • Proven experience making sound judgments in a changing environment
EXPERIENCE • High school diploma or GED. • Driving experience. NBAS will train. • Possess a driving record with no reckless driving or driving under the influence convictions and/or moving traffic violations in the past 10 years.
PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE CRITERIA • Must obtain/have a current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate. • Obtain/have a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with air brakes, school bus, and passenger endorsements. • Completion of training required by the Michigan Department of Education.
