Our District:

Pioneer School District serves approximately 750 P-8 students and encompasses a rural area east of Shelton in the South Puget Sound region. The district is mainly forested, accented by lakes and waterways with multiple recreational opportunities. The district's newer schools (remodeled and rebuilt in 2017) and its quality education coupled with its beautiful setting is attracting young families to the area. Position Description:

Operate school buses including, but not limited to carry-alls, vans and single and dual wheel buses to transport students to and from school, field trips or other extra trips.

Knowledge, Skills, and Responsibilities:

Ability to listen and react professionally Ability to give and take directions Ability to remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations Ability to accept supervision and to work with minimal instructions Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students May include lifting, bending, stooping, stretching or other physical activities Drive buses on regularly scheduled routes or on field trips or activity trips Fuel and clean bus daily Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections as required Maintain control over passengers as related to safety Participate in required bus driver training courses established by State Superintendent of Public Instruction and school district Maintain reports as required Demonstrate sound student management practices Maintain current route information and submit to transportation office Perform related duties as required Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of 21 years of age Possess a valid Washington State driver's license with CDL endorsement and valid Washington State school bus driver's endorsement. Meet the physical and mental standards necessary to perform the duties, tasks and responsibilities of a school bus driver as described in this job description. Meet certification requirement as established in WAC 392-145 One year experience as the driver of a truck or commercial passenger vehicle Obtain bi-annual physical per district policy Maintain valid bus permit, doctor's certificate and first aid card Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people Application Procedure:

Salary Range:

Pioneer Public School Employees Salary Schedule. Hourly $24.92 to $30.74, plus longevity pay at the end-of-the year, dependent on school district experience.

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

Eligible employees are required to be a member of the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems Plan. . IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Effective June 11, 1992, pursuant to Public Law 92544 all new employees must complete a satisfactory fingerprint and sexual misconduct background check. All employment is considered temporary until receipt of satisfactory check. Proof that the fingerprinting process has begun must be supplied to Human Resources prior to the first day of employment.
