This position will transport and supervise program participants to and from medical, nutrition, and personal appointments and on Active Adult trips. Salary Range: Driver I - $19.18-$25.96 Driver II - $22.57-$30.53 All employees receive a FREE REC PASS to use at both Rec Centers AND the Bay Aquatic Park!

Schedule varies and is based on program needs but is typically scheduled between Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties This position is funded in part by Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) and the State of Colorado. Pursuant to the grant providing this funding, there are specific statutory regulations that must be met on an ongoing basis, to include meeting criminal background and driving record check requirements.

General Duties: Transports senior citizens on daily trips to doctor/dentist/shopping and other senior activities according to Easy Ride schedule. Serves the 60+ population and Broomfield residents who are disabled; assists by driving vehicles to meet the population's transit needs. Assists passengers with vehicle ingress-egress and mobility as needed - to include wheelchair patrons, visually impaired persons and passengers with a physical disability including those with assistive devices such as walkers and canes. Helps passengers with all assistive devices and supports full weight of person when necessary. Follows established emergency procedures; carries cellular telephone and tablet on each trip. Assists passengers with packages and as necessary for ingress and egress to vehicle and destination. Performs routine checks of vehicles before operation to include fluid level checks, tire pressure, and proper operation of turn signal lights. Prepares vans for use prior to each trip using a mechanical checklist provided by Fleet Maintenance Division. Cleans and fuels vehicles according to need at Fleet Maintenance or relevant location. Will transport seniors 55 or older on Active Adult Days Trips during business hours and possibly on weekends or after hours. Will serve as Trip Supervisor while driving on Active Adult Day Trips. Minimum Qualifications Driver I and II

Training

- High school graduate or GED equivalent. Experience

- Experience with providing front line customer service. Preference will be given for experience working with the elderly and disabled population and with transporting individuals that use assistive and mobility devices. Driver I

PLUS

experience driving a passenger vehicle in all types of weather conditions is preferred. Driver II

PLUS

experience driving a commercial vehicle in all types of weather conditions. Experience following routes and schedules. OR

Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: driving skills test, oral board, reference checks, driving record check through DMV, background checks including police check and sex-offender registry check, CAPs check, pre-placement physical and drug screen.

Driver I and II

Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment. Within three months of hire, must successfully pass a certified course for CPR training and receive a certificate of completion from the American Red Cross in knowledge of first aid practices and procedures (Multi-Media standard course). Driver II

Must currently hold a CDL License with a valid DOT physical and a passenger endorsement. The DOT physical card, and a safe driving record must be maintained for continued employment.

Working Conditions

The noise level in the environment is moderate and engine, traffic noises and passenger voices can be distracting. Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday but may also include hours at night, on weekends, or on holidays. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; hear passenger requests from the back of the bus while driving, and reach with hands and arms. Physical demands are generally described as medium (exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body). The employee must be able to support the full weight of a person up to 200 lbs in providing emergency assistance to Easy Ride patrons as needed. Must be able to lift and carry grocery bags weighing between 17-36 lbs. Must be able to operate a wheelchair lift, secure the wheelchair on the lift, maneuver in and out of the driver's seat in limited space, and secure the wheelchair with tie downs to the floor board. Must be able to lift hood of passenger van (initial pull force of 54 lbs.) to check engine and fluid levels before transport. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, color vision, and peripheral vision.
