We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Permanent Property Controller to join our dynamic and fast-paced team in the Accounting + Finance industry. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with a strong background in commercial real estate to oversee and manage the financial operations of our diverse property portfolio which includes shopping centers, office spaces, retail, and mixed-use properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the financial health and integrity of our properties, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and providing strategic financial leadership.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the financial operations of the company's property portfolio, including shopping centers, office spaces, retail, and mixed-use properties. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP. Perform CAM reconciliations and CAM recs, ensuring that all costs are accurately allocated and recovered. Utilize MRI software to manage and track financial data and property management activities. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate with property managers and other stakeholders to develop budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor and manage cash flow and operating expenses, identifying opportunities for cost savings and financial improvement. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations and filing requirements. Provide financial guidance and support to senior management, contributing to strategic decision-making and business planning. Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering an environment of continuous learning and development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA certification is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a property controller role or a similar position in the commercial real estate industry. Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with CAM reconciliation and CAM recs. Proficiency in MRI software or a similar property management and accounting software. Experience managing financial operations for a diverse property portfolio, including shopping centers, office spaces, retail, and mixed-use properties. Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record of mentoring and developing staff. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders. High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining the financial health and integrity of the company's properties.
